2013 European Athletics Indoor Championships
The 2013 European Athletics Indoor Championships were held at Scandinavium and Svenska Mässan in Gothenburg, Sweden, on 1–3 March 2013. Bidding process The decision to grant the event for Gothenburg was made by the European Athletics Council at their long meeting in Malta on October 15, 2007. Initially, Gothenburg applied for the 2011 Championships against Paris. The European Athletic Association thought the two cities presented very good concepts, and it ended up with the two candidates get one championship each; Paris in 2011 and Gothenburg in 2013. Gothenburg will use the concept ''All under one roof''. Venue The main venue for the 2013 European Athletics Indoor Championships will be Scandinavium with a maximum capacity of 12,000 spectators, but at the event the arena will have about 6,500 spectators because of the reconstruction. Maksim Viktorovich Sidorov (russian: Максим Викторович Сидоров; born 13 May 1986) is a Russian shot putter. He has a personal best throw of . Career Sidorov narrowly missed making the final of the shot put at the 2012 IAAF World Indoor Championships, finishing seventh in his qualifying group, and 14th overall with a mark of 19.88 m. Sidorov took his first senior international championship medal, when he threw 20.55m for bronze at the 2011 European Indoor Championships in Paris. He threw 21.45m on 22 July to win the Russian National Championships. Leif Arrhenius (born 15 July 1986 in Provo, Utah) is a professional Swedish athlete competing in the shot put and discus throw. He represented his country at two World and three European Championships. In addition, he is the 2011 US Collegiate Indoor Champion. Born in Utah, Arrhenius has dual Swedish and American citizenship. He is the son of Anders Arrhenius, who was a professional shot put competitor in Sweden. His older brother, Niklas, is also a shot putter and discus thrower. Arrhenius represented Brigham Young University from 2005 and 2008-2011. He was a seven-time All-American while competing for Brigham Young University.
