2013 Calder Cup Playoffs
The 2013 Calder Cup playoffs of the American Hockey League began on April 26, 2013, with the same playoff format that was introduced in 2012. The sixteen teams that qualified, eight from each conference, played a best-of-five series in the conference quarterfinals, and the playoffs continued with best-of-seven series for the conference semifinals, conference finals and Calder Cup finals. The Grand Rapids Griffins defeated the Syracuse Crunch in six games to win the Calder Cup for the first time in Grand Rapids' franchise history. San Diego Gulls
The San Diego Gulls are a professional ice hockey team in the American Hockey League (AHL) that began play in the 2015–16 season. Based in San Diego, California, and affiliated with the National Hockey League's Anaheim Ducks, the Gulls play their home games at the Pechanga Arena. The team is the fifth hockey team in San Diego to use the "Gulls" name. The Gulls are a relocation of the former Norfolk Admirals franchise, joining six other AHL franchises to form a new AHL Pacific Division. Rochester Americans
The Rochester Americans (colloquially known as the Amerks) are a professional ice hockey team in the American Hockey League; the team is an owned and operated affiliate of the Buffalo Sabres. The team plays its home games in Rochester, New York, at the Blue Cross Arena at the War Memorial. The Americans are the fourth oldest franchise in the AHL, and have the second longest continuous tenure among AHL teams in their current locations after the Hershey Bears. Rochester was awarded a new franchise in June 1956, when the Pittsburgh Hornets were forced to suspend operations after their arena, the Duquesne Gardens was razed in an urban renewal project. With the Hornets franchise in limbo until a new arena could be built, there was room in the league for a team in Rochester. The Americans' team colors are red, white and blue. Christian Hanson (ice Hockey)
Christian David Hanson (born March 10, 1986) is a former American professional ice hockey player. He last played in the St. Louis Blues organization in the NHL. Hanson played college hockey for the University of Notre Dame. He was not selected in the NHL Entry Draft, but signed a contract as a free agent with the Toronto Maple Leafs after his senior season. Playing career He attended high school at Peters Township High School, where he was a member of their Pennsylvania State AA Hockey Championship teams. Dmitry Orlov (ice Hockey)
Dmitry Vladimirovich Orlov (russian: Дмитрий Владимирович Орлов; born 23 July 1991) is a Russian professional ice hockey defenceman for the Carolina Hurricanes of the National Hockey League (NHL). Orlov previously played for the Washington Capitals, with whom he won the Stanley Cup in 2018 after defeating the Vegas Golden Knights in the finals. He represents Russia in international competition, winning gold medals at the 2011 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships and the 2014 IIHF World Championship. Jonathan David DiSalvatore (born March 30, 1981) is an American former professional ice hockey player. He was selected by the San Jose Sharks in the 4th round (104th overall) of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. DiSalvatore played five games in the National Hockey League with the St. Louis Blues during the 2005–06 NHL season and one game with the Minnesota Wild in the 2011–12 NHL season. On December 11, 2015 DiSalvatore played in his 800th American Hockey League game, putting him 2nd all-time in AHL games played for a U.S born player. Casey Jay Wellman (born October 18, 1987) is an American professional ice hockey center currently playing with Oulun Kärpät of the Finnish Liiga. Playing career As a youth, Wellman played in the 2001 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with the San Jose Junior Sharks minor ice hockey team. A native of Brentwood, California, while in high school, Wellman played hockey at Cranbrook Kingswood School in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, winning state titles in 2004 and 2006. Jamie Tardif
Jamie Marc Tardif (born January 23, 1985) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey forward. Tardif played briefly in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Boston Bruins appearing in two games. Playing career Tardif was drafted 112th overall in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft by the Calgary Flames. He played Junior with the Peterborough Petes of the Ontario Hockey League from 2001 to 2006. Giant Center
Giant Center is a 10,500-seat multi-purpose arena in Hershey, Pennsylvania, a census-designated place in the Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Harrisburg metropolitan area. It is home to the Hershey Bears ice hockey team, the longest-existing member of the American Hockey League since 1938. Giant Center replaced the Hersheypark Arena as the Bears' home venue in 2002. The Amica Mutual Pavilion (originally Providence Civic Center and formerly Dunkin' Donuts Center) is an indoor arena located in downtown Providence, Rhode Island. It was built in 1972, as a home court for the emerging Providence College men's basketball program, due to the high demand for tickets to their games in Alumni Hall, as well as for a home arena for the then–Providence Reds, who played in the nearly 50-year-old Rhode Island Auditorium. The Houston Aeros were a professional ice hockey team in the International Hockey League (IHL) and the American Hockey League (AHL). The team played in Houston, Texas, at The Summit (renamed Compaq Center in 1998) from 1994 until 2003 and the Toyota Center from 2003 to 2013. The Oklahoma City Barons were a professional ice hockey team in the American Hockey League (AHL). The team's first season was 2010–11 AHL season, 2010–11. They played their home games at the Cox Convention Center, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
