2012–13 Western Sydney Wanderers FC Season
The 2012–13 Western Sydney Wanderers FC season was the club's inaugural season since its establishment in 2012. The club participated in the A-League for the first time, winning the competition and finishing as runner-up in the 2013 A-League Grand Final. Season overview On 4 April 2012, Western Sydney Wanderers was established by FFA as a Western Sydney based club to compete in the A-League. On 17 May, Tony Popovic was announced as inaugural head coach. Popovic joined the club on a four-year deal after requesting to be released from the final year of his contracted role as assistant manager of Crystal Palace. On 22 May, Ante Milicic joined the club as assistant coach. On 25 June, the first players to sign to the new club were announced, these were Aaron Mooy from St Mirren, Tarek Elrich from Newcastle Jets and Kwabena Appiah-Kubi from Central Coast Mariners. Western Sydney Wanderers Football Club (colloquially known as Western Sydney, or simply as Wanderers) is an Australian professional soccer club based in the Western Sydney region of Sydney, New South Wales. It competes in the country's premier competition, the A-League, under licence from The Australian Professional Leagues (APL). formerly under licence by the Football Federation Australia (FFA). The club had established itself as a major force in both Australia and Asia, having won one A-League Premiership and an AFC Champions League title in its history. APIA Leichhardt Football Club, also known simply as APIA (Associazione Poli-sportiva Italo Australiana), is a semi-professional soccer club based in the suburb of Leichhardt in Sydney, Australia. The club was formed in 1954 as APIA Leichhardt, by Italian Australians. APIA, winner of the national Australian championship of 1987, is currently a member of the NPL NSW. Adam Leonard D'Apuzzo (born 20 October 1986) is a retired Australian association football player who played as a left-back. He retired from professional football following his release from Western Sydney Wanderers. Biography He has previously played for the Marconi Stallions in the NSW Premier League competition. D'Apuzzo's brother is former Central Coast Mariners midfielder David D'Apuzzo. Nepean FC
Nepean FC are a semi-professional football (soccer) club, from the Penrith and St Marys suburbs in Western Sydney. The club was founded in 2011. The Men's team currently plays in the NSW State League, the fourth tier of football in New South Wales and the fifth tier in Australia when including the national competition, the A-League. History The area has been previously represented by a number of clubs, most recently Penrith Nepean United who folded in 2009 whilst competing in the NSW Premier League. Labinot Haliti (born 26 October 1985) is an Australian former professional footballer who played as a second striker or winger. Early life Haliti's was born in Pristina, and fled his home country at the age of 14 with his family, arriving in Australia in 1999, where they settled in Sydney. Shannon Cole (born 4 August 1984) is a former professional footballer turned coach. Club career Cole's early football career saw a series of stints with NSW state league clubs, in particular APIA Leichhardt, Dulwich Hill, Rockdale City Suns and Parramatta Eagles. Michael Francis Beauchamp (born 8 March 1981) is an Australian former professional footballer who played as a central defender.
