The 2012–13 VfL Wolfsburg season was the 68th season in the club's football history. In 2012–13 the club played in the Bundesliga, the top tier of German football. It was the club's 16th consecutive season in this league, having been promoted from the 2. Bundesliga in 1997. The club also took part in the 2012–13 edition of the DFB-Pokal, the German Cup, where it reached the semi-finals before losing to eventual champion Bayern Munich. Verein für Leibesübungen Wolfsburg e. V., commonly known as VfL Wolfsburg () or Wolfsburg, is a German professional sports club based in Wolfsburg, Lower Saxony. The club grew out of a multi-sports club for Volkswagen workers in the city of Wolfsburg. It is best known for its football department, but other departments include badminton, handball and athletics. The men's professional football team play in the Bundesliga, the top tier of the German football league system. FC Midtjylland (, "Central Jutland") is a Danish professional football club based in Herning and Ikast in the western part of Jutland. The club is the result of a merger between Ikast FS and Herning Fremad. Midtjylland competes in the Danish Superliga, which they have won three times, most recently in 2020. Thomas Zeuthen Kahlenberg (; born 20 March 1983) is a Danish former footballer who played as an attacking midfielder. He started his career with Brøndby IF, winning two Danish Superliga championship, and played four seasons at French club Auxerre. Ferhan Hasani ( mk, Ферхан Хасани; born 18 June 1990), nicknamed Buba, is a North Macedonia, Macedonian professional Association football, footballer who plays for FC Helsingør. Patrick Helmes (born 1 March 1984) is a German former professional footballer who played as a striker. He most recently worked as the manager of Alemannia Aachen. Bas Dost
Bas Dost (; born 31 May 1989) is a Dutch professional footballer who plays as a forward for Eredivisie club FC Utrecht. Having begun his career at FC Emmen in the Eerste Divisie, Dost later played in the Eredivisie for Heracles Almelo and SC Heerenveen. In 2012, after being the top scorer in the league with 32 goals in 34 games, he was signed by VfL Wolfsburg.
