2012–13 Uruguayan Primera División Season
The 2012–13 Liga Profesional de Primera División season, also known as the 2012–13 Copa Uruguaya or the 2012–13 Campeonato Uruguayo, was the 109th season of Uruguay's top-flight football league, and the 82nd in which it was professional. Nacional was the defending champion. Teams Sixteen teams will compete in the Primera División this season. Thirteen teams remained from the 2011–12 season. Rentistas, Rampla Juniors, and Cerrito were relegated after accumulating the fewest points in the relegation table. They were replaced by Central Español, Juventud, and Progreso, the 2011–12 Segunda División winner, runner-up, and playoff winner, respectively. All of the new teams are making repeat appearances. The Liga Profesional de Primera División (American Spanish , en, First Division Professional League, local: , ''First Division''), named "Torneo Uruguayo Copa Coca-Cola" for sponsorship reasons, is the highest professional Association football, football league in Uruguay and organized by the Uruguayan Football Association (AUF). It currently participates in the Uruguayan Segunda División Profesional following their relegation at the end of the 2019 season. Defensor Sporting Club is a sports club based in Montevideo, Uruguay. Founded in 1913, Defensor has several sports sections, with football and basketball being the most important and the ones in which the club has achieved significant achievements in Uruguay and internationally. Central Español Fútbol Club, usually known simply as Central Español is a Uruguayan football club based in Montevideo. History The F.U.F era Together with Peñarol, Central founded FUF (Uruguayan football federation) in 1923 after being expelled from AUF. The FUF even made a parallel Uruguay national team (dissident to AUF) that played several international games based on Peñarol and Central squads. Founded in 1932, the club's home stadium is Jardines del Hipódromo, which has a capacity of 18,000. History Danubio was founded by the Bulgarian-born brothers Mihail (Miguel) and Ivan (Juan) Lazaroff on 1 March 1932 together with other youths from the "Republica de Nicaragua" school in Montevideo. Rampla Juniors Fútbol Club, commonly known as Rampla Juniors, is a Uruguayan football club based in Montevideo. The team was actively playing the 2021 season by January 2021.
