2012–13 Toronto Raptors Season
The 2012–13 Toronto Raptors season was the 18th season of the franchise in the National Basketball Association (NBA). In the off-season, after failing to obtain Steve Nash in free agency, the Raptors acquired Kyle Lowry from the Houston Rockets for a first round pick. The season also marked the debut of Jonas Valančiūnas, their first pick in the 2011 Draft from Lithuania. On January 30, 2013, the Raptors acquired Rudy Gay in a three-way deal with the Memphis Grizzlies and Detroit Pistons which sent longtime point guard José Calderón to the Pistons. Despite a winning home record (21-20) the Raptors failed to secure a playoff spot with a 34-48 record. This season also marked the official beginning of the DeRozan/ Lowry era in Toronto. Dwane Lyndon Casey (born April 17, 1957) is an American basketball coach who is the head coach for the Detroit Pistons of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He is a former NCAA basketball player and coach, having played and coached there for over a decade before moving on to the NBA. He was previously the head coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Toronto Raptors, with whom he won the NBA Coach of the Year Award in 2018. Early years Dwane Lyndon Casey was born on April 17, 1957, in Indianapolis. However, his family moved to Morganfield, Kentucky when he was three years old. Casey graduated from Union County High School in 1975. Casey was a top recruit coming out of high school. He made the decision to commit to the University of Kentucky. Aaron Gray
Aaron Michael Gray (born December 7, 1984) is an American former professional basketball player who played seven seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). A heart condition forced him into early retirement in 2015. High school career Gray played high school basketball at Emmaus High School in Emmaus, Pennsylvania. The school competes in Pennsylvania's highly competitive East Penn Conference. Gray did not start playing for the varsity team until the middle of his sophomore season. In Gray's senior season at Emmaus High School, he won the Pennsylvania Gatorade Player of the Year. Gray was recruited by major collegiate basketball programs, including the Penn State, Pitt, and Rutgers, and committed to Pitt. Ed Davis (basketball)
Edward Adam Davis (born June 5, 1989) is an American professional basketball player for Mets de Guaynabo of the Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN). He played high school basketball at Benedictine High School in Richmond, Virginia. He is the son of former NBA player Terry Davis. He was selected with the 13th overall pick in the 2010 NBA draft by the Toronto Raptors. High school career Davis spent his first two years of high school playing basketball at Hanover High School in Mechanicsville, Virginia before transferring to Benedictine High School in Richmond, Virginia. There, he led Benedictine to two state championships while averaging 22 points, 14 rebounds and 7 blocks as a senior.
