2012–13 Tacoma Stars Season
The 2012–13 Tacoma Stars season was the third season of the Tacoma Stars (2003), Tacoma Stars professional indoor soccer club as a franchise in the Professional Arena Soccer League. The Stars, a Pacific Division team, played their home games in the new Pacific Sports Center in Tacoma, Washington. The team was led by head coach Joe Waters. Season summary The team had mixed results in the regular season, finishing 8–8, including the forfeit of their final scheduled game against the Sacramento Surge (PASL), Sacramento Surge. The team struggled on the road with 6 of their 8 wins coming at home. Still, the Stars placed third in the PASL's five-team Pacific Division and only narrowly failed to qualify for the postseason. The Tacoma Stars are an American soccer organization that fields teams in both the indoor soccer Major Arena Soccer League and the National Premier Soccer League. Founded in 2003, the indoor team plays at ShoWare Center in Kent, Washington. History The Stars were founded in 2003 as a member of the Premier Arena Soccer League (PASL-Premier). The team is named after the Tacoma Stars (1983–92), Tacoma Stars that played in the original Major Indoor Soccer League (1978–1992), Major Indoor Soccer League from 1983 to 1992. The Stars won two PASL-Premier Championships (Summer 2004 & Winter 2009-2010). Tacoma, WA
Tacoma ( ) is the county seat of Pierce County, Washington, United States. A port city, it is situated along Washington's Puget Sound, southwest of Seattle, northeast of the state capital, Olympia, and northwest of Mount Rainier National Park. ''Tacoma Weekly'' is a weekly community newspaper published by Pierce County Community Newspaper Group (PCCNG). The paper started in 1987 as the ''Tacoma Monthly'' and in 1994 became the ''Tacoma Weekly''. The free newspaper is distributed on Thursdays to hundreds of businesses and public spaces in the Tacoma area. It has used a broadsheet format since 2001. Controversies In a recent two-year period, publisher John Weymer paid $9,157.06 in wage theft claims that were filed against him at the Washington Department of Labor and Industries. Since 1995, Weymer has accumulated over $170,000 in judgements against himself and his business. In 2019, a judge ruled Weymer owed $5,000 to the Grand Cinema after failing to deliver a printing job the cinema paid for. Turlock Soccer Complex
Turlock is a city in Stanislaus County, California, United States. Its estimated 2019 population of 73,631 made it the second-largest city in Stanislaus County after Modesto. History Founded on December 22, 1871, by prominent grain farmer John William Mitchell, the town consisted of a post office, a depot, a grain warehouse and a few other buildings. Mitchell declined the honor of having the town named for himself. The name "Turlock" was then chosen instead. The name is believed to originate from the Irish village Turlough. The Anaheim Convention Center is a major convention center in Anaheim, California and is the largest exhibition facility on the West Coast of the United States. San Diego Sockers (2009)
San Diego Sockers are an American professional indoor soccer franchise playing in the Western Division of the Major Arena Soccer League, representing the San Diego area since 2009. The Sockers first played home games at Chevrolet Del Mar Arena at the Del Mar Fairgrounds adjacent to the Del Mar Racetrack in Del Mar, California. They moved to Pechanga Arena, the original home of the MISL Sockers, for the 2012–2013 season. The Sockers plan on moving into Frontwave Arena, a 7,600 multi-purpose indoor sports arena in Oceanside, CA once it opens. The projected opening date is in the first quarter of 2024.
