2012–13 Slovak First Football League
The 2012–13 Slovak First Football League (known as the Slovak Corgoň Liga for sponsorship reasons) was the 20th season of first-tier football league in Slovakia, since its establishment in 1993. The season started on 14 July 2012 and ended on 26 May 2013. MŠK Žilina were the defending champions. Teams A total of 12 teams competed in the league, including 11 sides from the 2011–12 season and one promoted from the 2. liga. The promoted team was Spartak Myjava which made their Slovak First Football League debut. They replaced DAC Dunajská Streda. Corgoň Liga
The Slovak Super Liga is the top level football league in Slovakia, currently known as the Fortuna Liga due to a sponsorship arrangement. It was formed in 1993 following the dissolution of Czechoslovakia. The record for most titles is eleven, held by Slovan Bratislava, who are the current title holders. The first Slovak championship Zväzové Majstrovstvá Slovenska was played between Slovak teams (1925–1933); until 1935-36, no Slovak team played in the Czechoslovak (professional, state) league. MFK Dukla Banská Bystrica () is a Slovak football club from the town of Banská Bystrica. The club plays at the SNP Stadium. After being relegated from the Slovak 2. liga in 2017, the team had financial problems. Ružomberok
Ružomberok (; german: Rosenberg; hu, Rózsahegy; pl, Rużomberk) is a town in northern Slovakia, in the historical Liptov region. It has a population of around 27,000 inhabitants (45,000 with nearby villages). Etymology The name of the initial settlement located on today's Makovický street was ''Revúca'' ( Slovak "roaring", derived from the Revúca river). In its neighborhood, German colonists build a new settlement ''Rosenberg'' named after wild roses growing in the area. This name was later adopted by Slovaks as ''Ružomberok''. Geography It is situated at the westernmost reaches of the Sub-Tatra Basin, more exactly its subdivision Liptov Basin, surrounded by the mountain ranges of Chočské vrchy, Greater Fatra and Low Tatras. Senica
Senica (; german: Senitz; hu, Szenice) is a town in Trnava Region, western Slovakia. It is located in the north-eastern part of the Záhorie lowland, close to the Little Carpathians. Etymology The name is derived from the word ''seno'' ("hay") with the suffix ''-ica'' used to form a place name. History Senica's history is closely related with the Branč castle, built in 1251–1261. It was first mentioned in 1256 and received its city privileges in 1396, confirmed in 1463 and 1492. The city was affected by Turkish wars, anti-Habsburg uprisings and reformation and counter-reformations in the 17th century. In 1746, it became seat of a district within the Nitra county. Nitra
Nitra (; also known by other alternative names) is a city in western Slovakia, situated at the foot of Zobor Mountain in the valley of the river Nitra. It is located 95 km east of Bratislava. Banská Bystrica (, also known by other alternative names) is a middle-sized town in central Slovakia, located on the Hron River in a long and wide valley encircled by the mountain chains of the Low Tatras, the Veľká Fatra, and the Kremnica Mountains. With approximately 76,000 inhabitants, Banská Bystrica is the sixth most populous municipality in Slovakia.
