2012–13 Moldovan National Division
The 2012–13 Moldovan National Division ( Moldovan: Divizia Naţională) is the 22nd season of top-tier football in Moldova. The competition began on 13 July 2012 and ended in May 2013. The league comprises 12 teams, 11 from the 2011–12 season and one promoted site from 2011–12 A Division. Sheriff Tiraspol are the defending champions. Teams CSCA–Rapid Chişinău and FC Costuleni were originally relegated on competitive grounds at the end of the 2011–12 season as they finished in the bottom two places of the league table. However, both clubs were eventually spared after Sfintul Gheorghe Suruceni did not obtain a National Division licence for 2012–13 and only one team, runners-up Speranţa Crihana Veche, could be promoted from the top four 2011–12 A Division sides on the same grounds. Moldovan National Division
The Moldovan Super Liga is an association football league that is currently the top division of Moldovan football league system. The competition was established in 1992, when the country became independent from the Soviet Union. It was formed in place of former Soviet republican competitions that existed since 1945. Before the Soviet occupation of Bessarabia and Northern Bukovina in 1940, clubs from modern Moldova competed in the Romanian football competitions, particularly Nistru Chișinău. There are currently eight teams in the competition. At the end of the season, the bottom club is relegated to the Moldovan Liga 1 and replaced by the lower league's champion. Sheriff Tiraspol—located in Transnistria—is the most successful league club with 20 titles, and is followed by Zimbru Chișinău with eight wins. Moldovan Language
Moldovan (Romanian alphabet, Latin alphabet: ''limba moldovenească''; Moldovan Cyrillic alphabet: лимба молдовеняскэ), also known historically as Moldavian, is one of the two local names of the Romanian language in Moldova. "Moldovan" is declared the official language in Article 13 of the Constitution of Moldova, constitution adopted in 1994, while the 1991 Declaration of Independence of Moldova uses the name "Romanian". In 2003, the Moldovan parliament adopted a law defining "Moldovan" and "Romanian" as :wikt:glottonym, glottonyms for the same language. In 2013, the Constitutional Court of Moldova interpreted that Article 13 of the constitution is superseded by the Declaration of Independence, thus giving official status to the name "Romanian". FC Rapid Ghidighici was a Moldovan football club based in Ghidighici, Chişinău, Moldova. They played in the Divizia Naţională, the top division in Moldovan football. History During the 2006–07 season of the Divizia A, the club, then known as CSCA Chişinău, won promotion to the Divizia Naţională by coming in third. The newly promoted club then become known as CSCA-Steaua Chişinău. In the summer of 2008, the club merged with an club then known as FC Rapid Ghidighici to create CSCA–Rapid Chişinău. FC Iskra-Stal Rîbnița is a Moldovan football club based in Rîbnița, Moldova (Transnistria). History FC Iskra-Stal (Rybnitsa) was founded in 2005 by merging an amateur team ''Stal'' that was owned by the metallurgical plant in Rîbnița, with the local team "Iskra", that was competing in the Moldovan "A" Division. In the 2005–2006 season Iskra-Stal took the second place in the "A" championship of Moldova and won a ticket for the national premier division. Head coach of this achievement was Vasily Raiko. FC Costuleni
FC Costuleni was a Moldovan football club based in Costuleni, Ungheni, Moldova. They played in the Divizia Naţională, the top division in Moldovan football. History The club participated for the first time in the "B" Division (North) in the 2008–09 season and won it. In 2009–10, FC Costuleni won the "A" Division and promoted to the highest tier of Moldovan football Moldovan National Division. After few months spent at Rapid Ghidighici, on 24 June 2013 Italian businessman Pietro Belardelli acquired FC Costuleni from Iurie Chirinciuc at a symbolic price of one Moldovan leu. Former owner Iurie Chirinciuc had to be the club's honorary president, and Pietro Belardelli to manage and finance the club.
