2012–13 Men's FIH Hockey World League Round 1
The 2012–13 Men's FIH Hockey World League Round 1 was held from August to December 2012. A total of 35 teams competing in 9 events were part in this round of the tournament playing for 13 berths in the Round 2, played from February to June 2013. Qualification Each national association member of the International Hockey Federation (FIH) had the opportunity to compete in the tournament. Teams ranked 17th and lower in the FIH World Rankings current at the time of seeking entries for the competition were allocated to one of the Round 1 events. 2012–13 Men's FIH Hockey World League Round 2
The 2012–13 Men's FIH Hockey World League Round 2 was held from February to June 2013. A total of 24 teams competing in 4 events were part in this round of the tournament playing for 7 berths in the Semifinals, played from June to July 2013. Qualification 8 teams ranked between 9th and 16th in the FIH World Rankings current at the time of seeking entries for the competition qualified automatically, but Malaysia was chosen to host a Semifinal. The Czech Republic was invited to take their place. Also, as Azerbaijan withdrew from participating, Oman took their place in the tournament. Additionally 13 teams qualified from Round 1 and three nations that did not meet ranking criteria and were exempt from Round 1 to host Round 2 tournaments. Arif Ali (21 June 1961 – 31 January 2008) was the regional product director for the Associated Press news agency in Europe, Middle East and Africa. Early years Arif Ali was born in India on 21 June 1961. Career He first became employed at the AP London bureau in October 1982 as a field service technician. Ali often worked on risky assignments for the AP, including as a technical operations technician in Somalia in the early 1990s as the country collapsed in interclan warfare.
