FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2013
The FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2013 took place between 20 February and 3 March 2013 in Val di Fiemme, Italy, for the third time, the event having been hosted there previously in 1991 and 2003. Host selection The 2013 championships had a submission deadline of 1 May 2007 to the International Ski Federation (FIS). The facility was chosen at the International Ski Congress in Cape Town, South Africa, on 29 May 2008.FIS Newsflash 148. 10 October 2007. Five cities submitted bids for this event. Alexey Petukhov
Alexey Yevgenyevich Petukhov (russian: Алексей Евгеньевич Петухов; born 28 June 1983) is a Russian cross-country skier who competed between 2002 and 2019. Career His best World Cup finishes were two second places, both in sprint events in 2009, until December 2011, when he won a skate sprint in Davos, Switzerland. Petukhov also finished ninth in the sprint event at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2009 in Liberec. Petukhov won bronze with Nikolay Morilov in the Team Sprint at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Teodor Anders Peterson (born 1 May 1988 in Umeå) is a Swedish former cross-country skier that had sprint as his best discipline. Career He debuted in the World Cup on 7 March 2009 in Lahti in the 2008–09 season. Peterson made his breakthrough in the 2011–12 season. He won the first sprint race of the season, on 25 November 2011 in Ruka, Finland. The weekend after, in Düsseldorf, he won the team sprint together with Jesper Modin, representing Sweden. Peterson won his first individual World Cup victory on 2 February 2012 in Moscow. Peterson also won the overall sprint world cup 2011/2012. Dario Cologna (born 11 March 1986) is a Swiss cross-country skier. He has four overall World Cup victories, four Olympic gold medals, one World Championships gold medal and four Tour de Ski victories in his career. On 3 November 2021, he announced his retirement from cross-country skiing following the 2021–2022 season. Early life Cologna is a native Rumantsch speaker. Maxim Mikhailovich Vylegzhanin (russian: Максим Михайлович Вылегжанин; born 18 October 1982) is a Russian former cross country skier and a three-time Olympic silver medalist at the 2014 Sochi Olympics in 50 km freestyle, 4 × 10 km relay and team sprint. He was stripped of his 2014 Olympic medals by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on 9 November 2017, however on 1 February 2018, his results were restored as a result of the successful appeal. Vylegzhanin has competed since 2002. His first World Cup start was on 22 January 2005 in Pragelato, Italy. Maurice Manificat (born 4 April 1986) is a French cross-country skier who has competed since 2004. Career He has achieved three World Cup victories, in Lahti (March 2010), in Canmore (December 2012), both in the 15 km + 15 km double pursuit event, and in Davos (December 2017), in 15 km freestyle. Manificat also finished 47th in the 15 km + 15 km double pursuit event at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2009 in Liberec. At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, he finished fourth in the 4 x 10 km relay. Nikita Valeryevich Kryukov (russian: Никита Валерьевич Крюков; born 30 May 1985) is a Russian former cross-country skier who competed internationally between 2006 and 2018. He was a sprint specialist who won an Olympic gold medal, three World Championship gold medals, six World cup gold medals (three stage races, three individual World Cups), all in the sprint events. He was arguably the fastest skier ever when it came to double-poling on the flat in sprints.
