2012–13 Copa Del Rey
The 2012–13 Copa del Rey was the 111th staging of the Copa del Rey (including two seasons where two rival editions were played). The competition began on 29 August 2012 and ended on 17 May 2013 with the final, held at the Santiago Bernabéu in Madrid, in which Atlético Madrid lifted the trophy for the tenth time in their history with a 2–1 victory over hosts Real Madrid in extra time. Barcelona were the defending champions but were eliminated by Real Madrid in the semi-finals. Copa Del Rey
The Campeonato de España–Copa de Su Majestad el Rey, commonly known as Copa del Rey or simply La Copa and formerly known as Copa del Presidente de la República (1932–36) and Copa del Generalísimo (1939–76), is an annual knockout football competition in Spanish football, organized by the Royal Spanish Football Federation. The competition was founded in 1903, thus making it the oldest Spanish football competition played at a national level. It is considered one of the most prestigious ''national cup'' trophies in the world. Copa del Rey winners qualify for the following season's UEFA Europa League. 2012–13 Segunda División
The 2012–13 Segunda División season (known as the Liga Adelante for sponsorship reasons) was the 82nd since its establishment. The season started on 17 August 2012 and the league phase of 42 rounds ended on 9 June 2013. The entire season ended on 22 June 2013 with the promotion play-off finals. Teams A total of 22 teams contested the league, including 15 sides from the 2011–12 season, four promoted from the 2011–12 Segunda División B and three relegated from 2011–12 La Liga. Villarreal CF, Sporting de Gijón and Racing de Santander were the teams which were relegated from La Liga the previous season. 2012–13 UEFA Europa League Group Stage
The 2012–13 UEFA Europa League group stage featured 48 teams: the 7 automatic qualifiers, the 31 winners of the play-off round, and the 10 losing teams from the Champions League play-off round. The teams were drawn into twelve groups of four, and played each other home-and-away in a round-robin format. The top two teams in each group advanced to the round of 32, where they were joined by the eight third-placed teams from the Champions League group stage.
