2012 WAC Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2012 WAC men's basketball tournament, was held March 7–10, 2012 at the Orleans Arena in Paradise, Nevada, United States to crown a champion of the Western Athletic Conference. The winner of the tournament received an automatic bid to the 2012 NCAA tournament. The 2012 Championship game was televised on ESPN2 at 9:00 pm Pacific Time. Format With the departure of Boise State to the Mountain West Conference, WAC Commissioner Karl Benson announced during the basketball preseason teleconferences that the league would change its postseason basketball tournament to a regular quarterfinal format, getting rid of the double-bye format used in 2011. This format was to be used for 2012 only; the format was to be re-evaluated for 2013 after new five new teams came in and three schools departed for a total of 10 participating institutions in 2012–13. Orleans Arena
Orleans Arena is a 9,500-seat multi-purpose arena in Paradise, Nevada, in the Las Vegas Valley. It is located at the Orleans Hotel and Casino and is operated by Coast Casinos, a subsidiary of Boyd Gaming Corporation. The arena is the home to the Vegas Rollers of World TeamTennis since 2019. It is also an occasional home for the UNLV Rebels basketball team when the Thomas & Mack Center is in use. The arena was the home of the Las Vegas Wranglers ice hockey team from 2003 to 2014, the Las Vegas Gladiators arena football team in 2007, as well as the Las Vegas Sin women's football team. 2011–12 Utah State Aggies Men's Basketball Team
The 2011–12 Utah State Aggies men's basketball team represented Utah State University in the 2011–12 college basketball season. This was head coach Stew Morrill's fourteenth season at Utah State. The Aggies played their home games at the Smith Spectrum and are members of the Western Athletic Conference. They finished the season 21–16, 8–6 in WAC play to finish in fourth place. They lost in the quarterfinals of the WAC Basketball tournament to Louisiana Tech. Jeffrey William "Wil" Carter (born January 23, 1988) is an American professional basketball player. Early life Carter was born in Pocatello, Idaho and graduated from Highland High School of Pocatello in 2006. At Highland, Carter lettered in basketball and track. College career Carter played on the Salt Lake Community College men's basketball team in the 2006–2007 and 2009–2010 seasons. Deonte Deron Burton (born July 26, 1991) is an American professional basketball player for KK Gostivar of the Macedonian First League. He completed his college career for the University of Nevada, where he was named an All-American in 2012. High school career Burton, a 6'1" point guard, played for Centennial High School in Compton, California. Kyle James Barone (born September 12, 1989) is an American basketball player who played for the Earth Friends Tokyo Z of the B.League.
