2012 UCI Women's Road World Cup
The 2012 UCI Women's Road World Cup was the 15th edition of the UCI Women's Road World Cup. The calendar was to retain the same races as the 2011 edition, with the only change being the rescheduling of the Ronde van Drenthe to be the first race, until the GP Ciudad de Valladolid was cancelled for financial reasons. Annemiek Van Vleuten was the defending champion. Adriana ("Adrie") Visser (born 19 October 1983 in Hoorn) is a former Dutch track and road racer who lives in Wieringerwerf. Visser started her professional career in 2001, when she finished second at the Dutch road race championship. She came fifth in the time trial. In track cycling she won her first national titles, becoming Dutch champion in the 500m time trial and sprint. She also won a silver medal in the points race. At the world championships in Trexlertown, Pennsylvania, USA, she was seventh in the 500m time trial and eighth in the sprint and individual pursuit. She won a bronze medal at the 2003 World Track Championships in Stuttgart. In the same year she won the Dutch points, scratch and individual pursuit championships for the first time. In May 2004 she won her first World Cup meeting in Sydney, where she won the scratch before finishing 10th at the world championships in Melbourne a week later. Alena Vasileŭna Amialiusik ( be, Алена Васільеўна Амялюсік; born 6 February 1989) is a Belarusian road bicycle racer, who rides for UCI Women's WorldTeam . She competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the Women's road race, finishing 15th. She was announced as a member of the squad for the 2015 season. She also competed in the 2015 European Games for Belarus, in cycling, more specifically, the women's road race and earned a gold medal. Christine Majerus (born 25 February 1987) is a Luxembourgish professional road bicycle racing, road and cyclo-cross cyclist, who currently rides for UCI Women's Team, UCI Women's WorldTeam . She won the 2013 Sparkassen Giro Bochum one-day road race and the general classification of the 2019 Holland Ladies Tour. Loes Gunnewijk (born 27 November 1980 in Groenlo) is a Dutch former professional racing cyclist, who rode professionally between 2004 and 2015. Gunnewijk was a member of the Dutch national team together with Ellen van Dijk, Marianne Vos and Annemiek van Vleuten in the road race at the 2012 Summer Olympics where Vos won the gold medal. Gunnewijk announced her retirement from the sport in May 2015, subsequently completing the Union Cycliste Internationale's Sports Directors Diploma course in November 2015. Between May and the end of 2016, Gunnewijk joined her old cycling team as a trainee directeur sportif. Eleonora Maria "Ellen" van Dijk (; born 11 February 1987) is a Dutch professional road racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI Women's WorldTeam . Besides road cycling she was also a track cyclist until 2012. Van Dijk is known as a time trial specialist and is five times world champion. She won her first world title on the track in the scratch race in 2008. She became Road World Champion in 2012, 2013 and 2016 with her respective trade teams in the team time trial and in 2013 also in the individual time trial. In 2015, she won the time trial at the first European Games and the silver medal in the team time trial at the world championships.
