2012 Tour De Romandie
The 2012 Tour de Romandie was the 66th running of the Tour de Romandie cycling stage race. It started on 24 April in Lausanne and ended on 29 April in Crans-Montana and consisted of six stages, including a race-commencing prologue stage and a race-concluding individual time trial. It was the 14th race of the 2012 UCI World Tour season. The race was won by Great Britain's Bradley Wiggins of , after winning two stages including the final stage time trial, to take the general classification on the final day. Wiggins won the general classification by 12 seconds over runner-up Andrew Talansky of , who finished second to Wiggins in the final stage; Talansky also won the young rider classification title. Third place was taken by 's Rui Costa after he also put in a strong performance in the time trial, and gained sufficient time to move up from ninth overnight. The 2011 Tour de Romandie, was the 65th running of the Tour de Romandie cycling stage race. It started on 26 April in Martigny and ended on 1 May in Geneva and consisted of six stages, including a race-commencing prologue stage and also a penultimate day individual time trial. It was the 13th race of the 2011 UCI World Tour season. The race was won by rider Cadel Evans, who claimed the leader's yellow jersey for the second time – having previously won the race in 2006 – with an eighth-place finish on the penultimate time trial stage, and held his advantage to the end of the race. Evans' winning margin over runner-up Tony Martin was 18 seconds, and 's Alexander Vinokourov completed the podium, 19 seconds down on Evans. Martin Velits (born 21 February 1985 in Bratislava) is a Slovakian former road bicycle racer, who rode professionally between 2007 and 2017 for the Wiesenhof, , and teams. David Zabriskie (born January 12, 1979) is a retired professional road bicycle racer from the United States, who competed as a professional between 1999 and 2013. His main strength is individual time trials and his career highlights include stage wins in all three Grand Tour stage races and winning the US National Time Trial Championship seven times. Zabriskie is known for his quirky nature, including singing before stages and the interviews he does with fellow riders in the professional peloton which are posted on his web site. Franck Bouyer (born 17 March 1974, in Beaupréau) is a French former professional road bicycle racer, who competed as a professional between 1995 and 2013. Bouyer competed for the , Agrigel–La Creuse–Fenioux, , and squads during his career. Bouyer suffers from narcolepsy, resulting in sudden sleep attacks and cataplexy, and was unable to compete or train without Modafinil. However, the UCI ruled in June 2004 that Bouyer could not be given a therapeutic use exemption to allow him to compete having taken the drug, so Bouyer was unable to race. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) upheld the decision of the UCI citing that it could not be determined that Modafinil did not provide an extra increase in performance and that the dosage was hard to measure. UCI ProTour
The UCI ProTour was a series of road bicycle races in Europe, Australia and Canada organised by the UCI (International Cycling Union). Created by Hein Verbruggen, former president of the UCI, it comprises a number of 'ProTour' cycling teams, each of whom are required to compete in every round of the series. It was initially the basis of a season long competition for rankings points, created for 2005 to replace the UCI Road World Cup series, which ended at the end of the 2004 season (although the World Cup did not include any stage races).
