The 2012 Seattle Sounders FC season was the club's fourth season in Major League Soccer, the United States' top-tier of professional soccer. For the Sounders FC organization, it was their fourth year of existence, and including all previous clubs, it was the 32nd season of a soccer team bearing the Sounders name. Season overview Pre-season On November 23, 2011, James Riley was drafted away from Seattle by the Montreal Impact as part of the 2011 MLS Expansion Draft. Seattle Sounders FC
Seattle Sounders Football Club is an American professional men's soccer club based in Seattle. The Sounders compete as a member of the Western Conference of Major League Soccer (MLS). The club was established on November 13, 2007, and began play in 2009 as an MLS expansion team. The Sounders are a phoenix club, carrying the same name as the original Sounders franchise that competed in the North American Soccer League (NASL) from 1974 to 1983. The club's majority owner is Adrian Hanauer, and its minority owners are the estate of Paul Allen, Drew Carey, and 14 families from the Seattle area. Former USL Sounders coach and assistant coach Brian Schmetzer took over as head coach in July 2016 after the departure of Sigi Schmid. Pat Noonan
Pat Noonan (born August 2, 1980) is an American soccer coach and former Association football, soccer player. He is the head coach of FC Cincinnati in Major League Soccer. Playing career College and amateur Noonan attended De Smet Jesuit High School, and played college soccer for the Indiana Hoosiers men's soccer, Indiana University Hoosiers from 1999 to 2002. He was named an NSCAA Division I First-Team All-American (soccer), first-team All-American his senior and junior seasons, and second-team All-American his sophomore year. Jonathan "Nate" Jaqua (born October 28, 1981 in Eugene, Oregon) is an American former soccer player. Career High school Jaqua is a graduate of South Eugene High School, where he led his team to two Midwestern League titles and one co-championship with North Bend in 1996. South Eugene lost to South Medford High School in the Oregon Class 4A state title in 1998. He was named a Parade All-American twice and named Oregon 4A Player of the Year twice. College Jaqua played college soccer at the University of Portland from 2000 to 2002. He totaled 29 goals and 22 assists in his three years there was named West Coast Conference freshman of the year. Taylor Graham (born June 3, 1980) is a former American soccer player. Career Youth and college Graham attended Rio Americano High School and played five years of college soccer at Stanford University, registering as a walk-on his freshman year of 1998, and only appearing in two games in 1999. After appearing in 18 games his sophomore season, Graham started every possible game his final two, winning first team All-Pac-10 his senior year, as he led the Cardinal to an appearance in the NCAA College Cup. Professional After graduating from Stanford, Graham was drafted 33rd overall in the 2003 MLS SuperDraft by the Kansas City Wizards. Terry Boss
Terrence Boss (born September 1, 1981) is a retired professional soccer goalkeeper and a collegiate soccer coach. Career College and Amateur Boss played college soccer for the University of Tulsa from 2000–2004, starting 20 games, and also featured for Cascade Surge, Vermont Voltage and Fort Wayne Fever in the USL Premier Development League. Professional Boss began his professional career in the 2005 season with the Charlotte Eagles in the USL Second Division. In 2006, he moved to the Puerto Rico Islanders in the USL First Division, serving as the club's backup goalkeeper. Kasey Keller
Kasey C. Keller (born November 29, 1969) is an American former professional soccer player who played in Europe and the United States, as well as being the starting goalkeeper for the U.S. national team. He is a four-time FIFA World Cup participant and was the first American goalkeeper to become a regular in the German Bundesliga, the English Premier League, and the Spanish La Liga. Malmö Fotbollförening, commonly known as Malmö FF, Malmö, or MFF, is a professional football club and the most successful football club in Sweden in terms of trophies won. John Erik Gunnar Friberg (born 10 February 1986) is a Swedish former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Beginning his career with Västra Frölunda IF in 2005, he went on to represent Seattle Sounders, Malmö FF, Bologna, and Esbjerg fB before retiring at BK Häcken in 2022. In professional football, a transfer is the action taken whenever a player under contract moves between clubs. It refers to the transferring of a player's registration from one association football club to another. In general, the players can only be transferred during a transfer window and according to the rules set by a governing body (fulfilling the requirements of FIFA, continental and national bodies regulating the purchasing and selling clubs). Tyson Wahl (born February 23, 1984) is an American retired soccer player. Career Youth and college Wahl played club soccer for Slammers FC coached by Walid and Ziad Khoury, and Irvine Strikers, coached by Don Ebert, and played college soccer at the University of California, Berkeley from 2002 to 2005, where he started every game of his career. He also played two seasons with Orange County Blue Star in the USL Premier Development League. Gerson Mayen
Gerson Levi Mayen Villavicencio (born 9 February 1989) is a professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for C.D. Águila. Born in the United States, he represents the El Salvador national team at international level. Career Youth Mayen attended Manual Arts High School, and started playing soccer when he was young with a club named Gilbert Lindsay Youth Soccer Club, then with the club soccer with Alta Loma Arsenal where he won four Cal South State Cups, four Regional Championships and three National Championships.
