2012 Renault Clio Cup United Kingdom Season
The 2012 AirAsia Renault Clio Cup UK season is a multi-event, one make motor racing championship held across England. The championship features a mix of professional motor racing teams and privately funded drivers, competing in a Clio Renault Sport 200 that conform to the technical regulations for the championship. It forms part of the extensive program of support categories built up around the BTCC centrepiece. This season is the 17th Renault Clio Cup United Kingdom season. The season commenced on 31 March at Brands Hatch – on the circuit's Indy configuration – and will conclude on 21 October at the same venue, utilising the Grand Prix circuit, after sixteen races to be held at eight meetings, all in support of the 2012 British Touring Car Championship. Renault Clio Cup United Kingdom
The Renault Clio Cup United Kingdom was an entry level One-make, Touring car racing motor sport category and the current name in the long history of Renault one-make cups in the UK. It currently attracts drivers from across the United Kingdom to compete along with several drivers for European countries. The championship has been run to various regulations over the years, and can trace its history back to 1974. Several former drivers have become successful in other Touring car racing formulae, including Andy Priaulx, who went on to become multiple World Touring Car Championship champion and Jason Plato who is multiple British Touring Car Championship champion. Finesse Motorsport is a British motor racing team based in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire founded by Neil Giddings. They have raced on the TOCA support package in the Ginetta GT Supercup, Ginetta Junior Championship and Renault Clio Cup United Kingdom before stepping up to the British Touring Car Championship in 2013. Mike Bushell (born 5 July 1989) is a British racing driver. In 2013, Bushell competed in the British Touring Car Championship for the first time, driving for IP Tech Race Engineering in their Chevrolet Cruze NGTC car at Knockhill in place of Andy Neate. He returned to the series in 2015 with AmD Tuning, after winning the Renault Clio Cup United Kingdom in 2014. Josh Cook (born 15 June 1991) is a British racing driver currently competing in the British Touring Car Championship. He debuted in 2015, after being the runner-up in the Renault Clio Cup United Kingdom in 2014. Racing career Cook began his career in karting in 2003, before graduating to the SAXMAX Saloon Car Championship in 2007.
