2012 Queensland Firebirds Season
The 2012 Queensland Firebirds season saw Queensland Firebirds compete in the 2012 ANZ Championship. As both defending champions and winners of the Tauranga Pre-Season Tournament, Firebirds began the season as favorites. However they subsequently won just seven games and finished sixth during the regular season, failing to qualify for the play-offs. In October 2012, after three seasons as Firebirds' captain, Lauren Nourse announced her retirement. Roselee Jencke
Roselee Jencke is a former Australia netball international and netball coach. As a player, Jencke was a member of the Australia teams that won the gold medal at the 1991 World Netball Championships and the silver medals at the 1985 World Games and the 1987 World Netball Championships. In 1992 she was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia. Between 2009 and 2020, Jencke served as head coach of Queensland Firebirds. Between 2011 and 2016 she guided Firebirds to five ANZ Championship grand finals, winning three premierships in 2011, 2015 and 2016. Early life, education and family Jencke is originally from Pakenham, Victoria. She is the daughter of Norman and Janet Jencke. Amy Steel (born 7 April 1989) is an Australian retired netball player last played for the Adelaide Thunderbirds in the ANZ Championship. Erin Bell
Erin Bell (born 30 April 1987) is a former Australian netball player. Bell's career started in 2005 with the Sydney Swifts in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy. She was the first player in the history of the ANZ Championship to win three premierships; the first with the New South Wales Swifts in 2008 and the second and third with the Adelaide Thunderbirds in 2010 and 2013. ANZ Championship Erin Bell played with the NSW Swifts for the first two years of the ANZ Championship. Unhappy with the amount of court time she received, she moved to the Adelaide Thunderbirds in 2010. She helped secure a premiership for the Thunderbirds, playing at GA in the Grand Final. Adelaide Thunderbirds are an Australian netball team based in Adelaide, South Australia. Since 2017 they have played in Suncorp Super Netball. Between 2008 and 2016, they played in the ANZ Championship and between 1997 and 2007, they played in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy league. Thunderbirds have won four premierships. Tegan Caldwell
Tegan Alyce Philip (née Caldwell; born 3 September 1988) is a retired Australian Netball player, who for her entire professional career played for the Melbourne Vixens in the ANZ Championship and Suncorp Super Netball competitions. Netball career During the early stages of her career, Philip was described as the new Sharelle McMahon (the former Diamonds captain) because of her agility in the circle, vertical leap, and accurate eye. Her career began in the seaside town of Anglesea in Victoria for the Bellarine Netball Association when she was coached by her mother and father. Karyn Howarth
Karyn Bailey (born 28 July 1986) is a former Australian netball player who played for the Melbourne Vixens, Adelaide Thunderbirds. and played for the Surrey Storm ( UK) from 2018 - 2021. After Storm's final game on Monday 21st June 2021, she retired from domestic netball after 16 years of playing top-flight netball. Early years Bailey was born in Melbourne and moved to Northern Territory as a three-year-old. She earned a scholarship to the Northern Territory Institute of Sport at 15 years of age. Kate Beveridge
Kate Beveridge (born 25 July 1985) is a former Australian netball player who played in the ANZ Championship for the Adelaide Thunderbirds in 2008–2010, Melbourne Vixens in 2011–2012 and West Coast Fever in 2013-2017. Beveridge is known for her long range goal attempts, high arcing shots and very high accuracy rate. She is also known for her unique shooting style, having her arms straight while shooting. She was chosen to play for the Australian Netball Diamonds in 2008-2011. Although Beveridge was not included in the 12-player Diamonds squad in 2010, she captained the Diamonds' FastNet team in 2010 as the only player to have played in the 2009 World Netball Series. 2008 ANZ Championship Season
The 2008 ANZ Championship season was the inaugural season of the ANZ Championship. The 2008 season began on 5 April and concluded on 28 July. Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic were minor premiers after finishing top of the table following the regular season. New South Wales Swifts, with a team coached by Julie Fitzgerald and captained by Catherine Cox, won 10 of their 13 matches and finished second behind Magic. Swifts subsequently defeated Magic in both the major semi–final and the grand final to become the inaugural ANZ Championship winners. The grand final was played on 28 July at Acer Arena. Overall, 6792 goals were scored during the season, averaging 98.44 per match. Fox Sports (Australia) and Sky Sport (New Zealand) attracted an average audience per match of 56,581. Mercury Baypark Stadium (formerly known as Trustpower Baypark Stadium) is a multi-purpose stadium in Tauranga, New Zealand. Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic are a New Zealand netball team based in Hamilton. Between 1999 and 2007, they played in the Coca-Cola Cup/National Bank Cup league. Between 2008 and 2016, they played in the ANZ Championship. Since 2017, Magic have represented Netball Waikato Bay of Plenty in the ANZ Premiership.
