2012 Kenyan Premier League
The 2012 Kenyan Premier League (known as the Tusker Premier League for sponsorship reasons) was the ninth season of the Kenyan Premier League since its establishment in 2003 and the forty-ninth season of top division football in Kenya since 1963. It began on 11 February with Tusker and Nairobi City Stars and ended on 10 November with Oserian and Rangers. The winners of the league will earn a place at the preliminary round of the 2013 CAF Champions League and play against the 2012 FKF President's Cup champions at the 2013 Kenyan Super Cup. The defending champions Tusker, who also became the defending champions of the Kenyan Super Cup after beating Gor Mahia, the defending champions of the FKF Cup, earlier in the year, won their tenth league title after beating Nairobi City Stars 3−0 away at the Hope Centre. Kenyan Premier League
The Kenyan Premier League (KPL), officially known as the FKF Premier League and as the BetKing Premier League (BPL) for sponsorship reasons, is a professional league for men's association football clubs in Kenya. Standing at the top of the Kenyan football league system, the league was formed in 1963 under the Kenya Football Federation but is now controlled by the Football Kenya Federation. It is contested by 18 clubs and operates on a promotion and relegation system with the Kenyan National Super League. Gor Mahia
Gor Mahia Football Club (), commonly also known as ''K'Ogalo'' (), is a football club based in Nairobi, Kenya. They have won the Kenyan Premier League a record 19 times, and have also won the FKF President's Cup a record 11 times. They are the only team from Kenya to win an African continental title to date, having won the African Cup Winners' Cup in 1987 after previously reaching the final in 1979. The club was formally established on 17 February 1968 as a merger of Luo Union and Luo Sports Club (also known as Luo Stars) and won the national league at the first time of asking. Some of its original leaders were politicians Tom Mboya and Jaramogi Oginga Odinga. Goal difference, goal differential or points difference is a form of tiebreaker used to rank sport teams which finish on equal points in a league competition. Either "goal difference" or "points difference" is used, depending on whether matches are scored by goals (as in ice hockey and association football) or by points (as in rugby union and basketball). 2012 Kenyan Super Cup ...
The 2012 Kenyan Super Cup was a Kenyan football match that was played on 5 February 2012. It was contested by Tusker, the 2011 Kenyan Premier League winners, and Gor Mahia, the 2011 FKL Cup winners. Tusker won 4-1 on penalties after the match ended 1-1 at full-time for their first title. The team's goalkeeper, Samuel Odhiambo, was awarded Man of the match after saving all but one of Gor Mahia's penalties during the shootout. In addition to lifting the trophy, Tusker were awarded a KSh.750,000/= cheque prize while Gor Mahia took home KSh.500,000/=. FKF Cup
The FKF President's Cup (known as the Betway Shield cup for sponsorship reasons) is the top knockout tournament in Football in Kenya, Kenyan football. It was created in 1956, but during its existence the knockout tournament has had different names. It is the Kenyan equivalent to the FA Cup. In 2003 two different cup competition's were held in Kenya because the 4 semi-finalists of the President's Cup withdrew from the Kenya Football Federation, KFF and continued with their "Transparency Cup" while the KFF continued their tournament with already eliminated clubs. The Kenyan Super Cup is a Kenyan football championship contested by the winners of the Kenyan Premier League and the FKF President's Cup. 2012 FKF President's Cup
The 2012 FKF President's Cup was the 41st season of Kenya's top domestic cup competition. The deadline for application was 30 July, and 32 clubs had registered for participation to the tournament after paying a mandatory Kenyan shilling, KSh.15,000/= fee, with a final list of 34 teams. The quarter-finals were played on 6−7 October, while the semi-finals and the final were played on 17−18 November and 21 November respectively, after the end of the 2012 Kenyan Premier League. Two teams were to be knocked out in the #First round, first round (playoff matches) to decide who would advance to the #Second round, second round. Tusker (beer)
Tusker is a beer brand owned by East African Breweries, with over 700,000 hectolitres being sold in Kenya per year. It is also the largest African beer brand in the Diageo group. It is a 4.2% ABV pale lager. The beer's slogan "''Bia yangu, Nchi yangu''" means "My beer, My country" in Kiswahili.
