2012 Kansas Jayhawks Football Team
The 2012 Kansas Jayhawks football team represented the University of Kansas in the 2012 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Jayhawks were led by new head coach Charlie Weis and played their home games at Memorial Stadium. They were a member of the Big 12 Conference. They finished the season with 1–11 overall, 0–9 in Big 12, finishing in last place and failing to be bowl eligible (alone in Big 12 teams in doing so). Pre-season Coaching change The Jayhawks fired head coach Turner Gill after going 2–10 in his second year in 2011. He was replaced by former Notre Dame head coach Charlie Weis. Recruiting Following the hire of Charlie Weis, the Jayhawks received a pair of high-profile quarterback transfers in the duo of Dayne Crist from Notre Dame and Jake Heaps from BYU. Charlie Weis
Charles Joseph Weis Sr. (born March 30, 1956) is a former American football coach. He was the head coach for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish from 2005 to 2009 and the Kansas Jayhawks from 2012 to 2014. He also served as an offensive coordinator in the National Football League for the New York Jets, New England Patriots, and Kansas City Chiefs. Weis currently hosts "Airing It Out," along with Bob Papa, on Sirius XM NFL Radio. Coaching career After graduating from Notre Dame in 1978, Weis began his coaching career at Boonton High School in New Jersey. He spent the next five seasons at perennial powerhouse Morristown High School in New Jersey as a football assistant developing players such as Michael Landsberg. Tim Grunhard
Timothy Gerard Grunhard (born May 17, 1968) is an American football coach and former center. A second-round draft choice in the 1990 NFL Draft for the Kansas City Chiefs, Grunhard went on to play 169 games with Kansas City, the fourth most ever by a Chiefs offensive lineman. Collegiate career Grunhard grew up in Chicago, Illinois and attended St. Laurence High School in Burbank. He later moved to South Bend, Indiana where he later played on some of Notre Dame's most successful teams. He started every game in 1988 when the Irish went undefeated and won the national championship. That season included victories over 3 otherwise undefeated teams: West Virginia in the Fiesta Bowl, USC in a #1 vs. #2 showdown on the final weekend of the regular season, and the 31–30 win over Miami at Notre Dame Stadium that is considered one of the greatest college football games ever played. Brigham Field at Huskie Stadium is a college football stadium in the central United States, located on the campus of Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois. 2012 Northern Illinois Huskies Football Team
The 2012 Northern Illinois Huskies football team represented Northern Illinois University as a member of the West Division of the Mid-American Conference (MAC) during the 2012 NCAA Division I FBS football season. Northern Illinois compiled an overall record of 12–2 with a mark of 8–0 in conference play, winning the MAC West Division title. The Huskies advanced to the MAC Championship Game, where they beat Kent State to win the program's third MAC championship. Northern Illinois was invited to the Orange Bowl, where they lost to Florida State. Second-year head coach Dave Doeren led the team during the regular season and the MAC title game before resigning to become the head footbal coach at North Carolina State University. The 2012 TCU Horned Frogs football team represented Texas Christian University in the 2012 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Horned Frogs were led by 12th-year head coach Gary Patterson and played their home games at Amon G. Carter Stadium. This was their first year as members of the Big 12 Conference. Ben Heeney (born May 13, 1992) is a former American football linebacker. He played college football at Kansas. Early years Heeney attended Hutchinson High School in Hutchinson, Kansas.
