2012 Formula Renault 2.0 Alps Season
The 2012 Formula Renault 2.0 Alps Series is the second year of the Formula Renault 2.0 Alps series, and the eleventh season of the former Swiss Formula Renault Championship. The championship began on 24 March at Monza and will finish on 21 October at Barcelona after fourteen races held at seven meetings. The second-year drivers shined in the opening weekend at Monza. The first pole position of the season was claimed by Tech 1's Paul-Loup Chatin, but in the first race he was passed by Red Bull-backed Koiranen's Daniil Kvyat and 2011 Junior champion Melville McKee. Kvyat, who set the second fastest time in qualifying, dominated in both races and left Monza with 53 of 54 possible points. Daniil Kvyat
Daniil Vyacheslavovich Kvyat ( rus, Дании́л Вячесла́вович Квят, p=dənʲɪˈil vʲɪtɕɪˈslavəvʲɪtɕ ˈkvʲat; born 26 April 1994) is a Russian professional racing driver who competed in Formula One between 2014–2017 and 2019–2020. He became the second Formula One driver from Russia and is the most successful of the four Russian drivers to date, with three podiums. He was runner-up at the 2012 Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0, and a champion in 2012 Formula Renault 2.0 Alps Series and 2013 GP3 Series. Melville McKee (born 19 August 1994) is a British racing driver. He currently drives for Bamboo Engineering in the GP3 Series. His grandfather Mike was a Formula Two and 24 Hours of Le Mans racing driver. Career Karting McKee began karting at the age of six, contesting until 2003 in Australian championships. EPIC Racing (Euskadi Phil Imanol Claudio Racing) was a racing team from Spain. The team's headquarters were located in Vitoria ( Alava). It was the second major motorsport team from the Basque Country, (Euskadi). Epsilon Euskadi was the biggest one and ran their own team in World Series by Renault and Formula Renault before selling the racing division to EPIC Racing in March 2011 in a bid to run the World Series by Renault with both FR3.5 and FR2.0 when Epsilon Euskadi ran into financial trouble and allowed all personnel involved to maintain their jobs.
