2012 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup
The 2012 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup was the third edition of the women's football tournament, and was held in Azerbaijan from 22 September to 13 October, following a decision by the executive committee on 19 March 2010. Defending champions South Korea failed to qualify for the tournament. France won the title after defeating Korea DPR 1–1 (7–6 after pen.). Mascot The official mascot of this World Cup was The Top Top Girl (Top Top Qız), which means ball in Azerbaijani, a young girl with the national flag painted on her cheeks. Her body is blue, red, green and white kit like the host's national team and her brown hair in a ponytail designed to resemble what is known as a buta, a curving decorative motif widely used in Azerbaijani art. Griedge Mbock Bathy
Griedge Yinda Colette Mbock Bathy Nka (born 26 February 1995) is a French professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Division 1 Féminine club Lyon and the France national team. Career Mbock Bathy was born in Brest, Brittany to a family of Cameroonian and Maĺagasy descent. A strong centre-back, she joined Stade Briochin in 2010 who merged with En Avant de Guingamp in 2011. After four seasons under Guingamp, she moved to the current French champions Lyon on a four-year deal. With the French under-17 team, Mbock Bathy played in the 2012 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in Azerbaijan. Eighth Kilometer District Stadium, ( az, 8-ci Kilometr Qəsəbə Stadionu) is a soccer-specific stadium located in Nizami raion, Baku, Azerbaijan. Lankaran City Stadium
Khazar Lankaran Central Stadium ( az, Xəzər Lənkəran Mərkəzi Stadionu) is a multi-use stadium in Lankaran, Azerbaijan. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of FK Khazar Lankaran. The stadium holds 15,000 people and opened in 2006. The stadium also known as ''Fırtınalar meydanı'' (Arena of Storms), named after club's local supporters ''Fırtına'' fan group. On 17 July 2009, UEFA approved the stadium for usage during international football matches. The Tofiq Bahramov Republican Stadium ( az, Tofiq Bəhramov adına Respublika Stadionu) is a multi-purpose stadium in Baku, Azerbaijan. It is currently used mostly for football matches. It served as the home ground for the Azerbaijan national football team until they moved to the Baku Olympic Stadium. It holds 31,200 seats making it the second largest stadium in the country. The 2012 UEFA Women's Under-17 Championship was the fifth edition of the UEFA Women's Under-17 Championship. The tournament serves as a qualifier to the 2012 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup. The first qualifying matches were played on 29 September 2011, the final was played on 29 June 2012. With 42 participating nations a new U-17 record was set. The 2012 OFC Under 17 tournament was the second edition of the OFC Women's Under 17 Qualifying Tournament, which acted as the 2012 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup qualifier in the Oceania Football Confederation region. It took place from 9 to 14 April in Auckland, New Zealand. New Zealand were the defending champions after winning the 2010 edition. New Zealand won the tournament undefeated with a goal difference of 29–1 and qualified to the World Cup. The Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) is one of the six continental confederations of international association football. The OFC has 13 members, 11 of which are full members and two which are associate members not affiliated with FIFA. It promotes the game in Oceania and allows the member nations to qualify for the FIFA World Cup. OFC is predominantly made up of island nations where association football is not the most popular sport, with low GDP and low population meaning very little money is generated by the OFC nations.
