2012 European Aquatics Championships
The 2012 European Aquatics Championships were held from 14 to 27 May 2012 in Debrecen, Hungary and Eindhoven, Netherlands. The 2012 European Swimming Championships were to take place in Antwerp, Belgium, but were reallocated to the City of Debrecen and were held on the same dates as previously planned, from 21 to 27 May. The Diving Championships were held in Eindhoven from 15 to 20 May. The Synchronised Swimming discipline, originally intended to take place in Antwerp, have also been reallocated, with its continental titles having been contested in Eindhoven. Originally, the Championships had been awarded to Vienna, but later they backed out due to the Great Recession. The 2012 European Water Polo Championships were held separately a few months earlier, from 16 to 29 January, also in Eindhoven, Netherlands. Jonatan Kopelev
Jonatan Kopelev (or Yehonatan, he, יהונתן קופלב; born 1 October 1991) is an Israeli swimmer. He competes in 100 m backstroke, 200 m backstroke, and 50 m backstroke. He won a gold medal in the 50 m backstroke at the 2012 European Aquatics Championships. Early and personal life Kopelev began swimming at age seven, at the Maccabi Haifa Carmel club. Gergely Gyurta
Gergely Gyurta (born 21 September 1991) is a Hungarian swimmer and national team member for his home nation. He has competed at three Olympic Games and won World and European medals. His older brother is Dániel Gyurta, another Olympic swimmer who specializes in the breast stroke events. Career In 2010, he won his first senior international medal, winning the bronze medal in the men's 1500 m freestyle at the 2010 Short Course World Championships. Gergő Szabolcs Kis (born 19 January 1988, in Tapolca) is a Hungarian freestyle swimmer. Kis participated in the 2004 Summer Olympics in the men's 1500 m freestyle, ranking 23rd in the heats.
