2012 EPZ Omloop Van Borsele
The 2012 EPZ Omloop van Borsele was the 11th running of the Omloop van Borsele, a women's cycling event in 's-Heerenhoek, the Netherlands. New this year was the introduction of an individual time trial, held on 20 April over a distance of . The road race was held on 21 April 2012 over a distance of . It was rated by the UCI as 1.2 category race. After winning the time trial of Borsele, rider Ellen van Dijk won also the road race of the EPZ Omloop van Borsele. She won the sprint of a group of seven riders ahead of Gracie Elvin from Australia (Australian national team) and Sarah Düster from Germany (Rabobank Women Cycling Team). Ellen Van Dijk
Eleonora Maria "Ellen" van Dijk (; born 11 February 1987) is a Dutch professional road racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI Women's WorldTeam . Besides road cycling she was also a track cyclist until 2012. Van Dijk is known as a time trial specialist and is five times world champion. She won her first world title on the track in the scratch race in 2008. She became Road World Champion in 2012, 2013 and 2016 with her respective trade teams in the team time trial and in 2013 also in the individual time trial. In 2015, she won the time trial at the first European Games and the silver medal in the team time trial at the world championships. Van Dijk started as a speed skater and as part of her skating training she undertook cycling as part of cross-training in summer. She excelled at both, competing nationally at junior level. Chantal van den Broek-Blaak (née Blaak; born 22 October 1989) is a Dutch road racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI Women's WorldTeam . In 2017 she became world road race champion in Bergen, Norway. Career Junior career Van den Broek-Blaak was the Dutch national junior time trial champion in 2006 and 2007. She was European under-23 road race champion in 2009 and was also third in the Ronde van Drenthe race of the UCI Women's Road World Cup in that year. Professional career Van den Broek-Blaak began her professional career in 2008 with the Dutch and remained with them until they disbanded at the end of 2012, after which she raced for the US team for a year. Giorgia Bronzini (born 3 August 1983) is an Italian former professional racing cyclist, who rode professionally between 2003 and 2017. She won the women's road race in the UCI Road World Championships in both 2010 and 2011 and the women's points race in the UCI Track Cycling World Championships in 2009. Born in Piacenza, Bronzini took a total of 80 victories on the road and the track, including stages of the Giro d'Italia Femminile, La Route de France, the Tour of Qatar, the Tour of California, and the Tour of Chongming Island. After a 16-year career, in August 2018 Bronzini announced that she would retire at the end of the season and become a ''directeur sportif'' with Trek Bicycle Corporation's new women's team, in 2019. Melissa Hoskins (born 24 February 1991) is an Australian former track and road racing cyclist. She topped the general classification in the 2012 Tour of Chongming Island. She was a member of the Australian track cycling team pursuit team that finished in fourth place at the 2012 Summer Olympics. Hoskins announced her retirement from professional cycling on 2 May 2017.
