2012 America East Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2012 America East men's basketball tournament was held from March 1–4 at Chase Arena at Reich Family Pavilion in West Hartford, Connecticut, with the final held March 10 between the Stony Brook and the Vermont. As per America East tournament regulations, the final took place at Stony Brook University Arena, on the campus of Stony Brook University, the top and highest remaining seed. The Catamounts prevailed, 52-43, and earned an automatic bid to the 2012 NCAA tournament. All games except the play-in game was televised by the ESPN family of networks, including the Championship game on ESPN2. Chase Arena At Reich Family Pavilion
Chase Family Arena at Reich Family Pavilion, commonly called the Sports Center or the Reich Family Pavilion, is a 4,017-seat multi-purpose arena in West Hartford, Connecticut. Home to the University of Hartford Hawks men's and women's basketball teams, the arena opened on January 25, 1990, and was dedicated to the Chase family and the Reich family, both of West Hartford, in 1998 and 2004, respectively. It hosted the 2010 and 2011 America East Conference men's and women's basketball tournaments. In 2015 the men's basketball locker room was expanded and refurbished. The America East Conference is a collegiate athletic conference affiliated with NCAA Division I founded in 1979, whose members are located in the Northeastern United States. The conference has nine core members including eight public research universities, three of which, the University of Maine, the University of New Hampshire, and the University of Vermont, are the flagship universities of their states. The two non-flagship university centers of the State University of New York are in the conference: the University at Albany and Binghamton University. Bryant University is the only private university among the core membership. Of the nine members, eight are located within the borders of 7 contiguous states. The 2011–12 Albany Great Danes men's basketball team represented the University at Albany, SUNY during the 2011–12 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Great Dames, led by 11th year head coach Will Brown, played their home games at SEFCU Arena and are members of the America East Conference. 2011–12 Binghamton Bearcats Men's Basketball Team
The 2011–12 Binghamton Bearcats men's basketball team represented Binghamton University during the 2011–12 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Bearcats, led by third-year head coach Mark Macon, played their home games at the Binghamton University Events Center in Vestal, New York as members of the America East Conference. The team finished with a record of 2–29, the worst in program history, and finished last in America East play with a 1–15 conference record. Binghamton began the season by losing 26 consecutive games and were the final remaining winless team in Division I. The Bearcats ended the regular season at 1–28. They defeated UMBC in the first round of the 2012 America East men's basketball tournament before losing to Stony Brook to end their season.
