2011–12 Stevenage F.C. Season
The 2011–12 season was Stevenage F.C.'s second season in the Football League, where the club competed in League One. This article shows statistics of the club's players in the season, and also lists all matches that the club played during the season. Their sixth-place finish and subsequent successful play-off campaign meant it was Stevenage's first ever season of playing in League One, having only spent one season in League Two. The season also marked the second season that the club played under its new name – Stevenage Football Club, dropping 'Borough' from its title as of 1 June 2010. The season started out as the third year in charge for manager Graham Westley during his second spell at the club; having previously managed the Hertfordshire side from 2003 to 2006. Stevenage ( ) is a large town and borough in Hertfordshire, England, about north of London. Stevenage is east of junctions 7 and 8 of the A1(M), between Letchworth Garden City to the north and Welwyn Garden City to the south. In 1946, Stevenage was designated the United Kingdom's first New Town under the New Towns Act. Etymology "Stevenage" may derive from Old English ''stiþen āc'' / ''stiðen āc'' / ''stithen ac'' (various Old English dialects cited here) meaning "(place at) the stiff oak". Luke Foster
Luke James Foster (born 8 September 1985) was an English professional footballer who last played as a defender for Northern Premier League Division One East club Loughborough Dynamo. Foster started his career as a trainee with Sheffield Wednesday, signing a professional contract with the club at the age of 18. He joined Scarborough on work experience in September 2004, and was also loaned out to Conference North club Alfreton Town in February 2005 until the end of the 2004–05 season. On returning to his parent club, Foster was released, and joined Lincoln City in June 2005. He was loaned out to York City the following season on a two-month loan. In January 2007, Foster was released by Lincoln, and he joined Stalybridge Celtic on a short-term contract. He left Stalybridge a month later, in order to join Oxford United on an initial six-month deal. Basingstoke ( ) is the largest town in the county of Hampshire. It is situated in south-central England and lies across a valley at the source of the River Loddon, at the far western edge of The North Downs. The National League South, formerly Conference South, is one of the second divisions of the National League in England, immediately below the top division National League. Along with National League North, it is in the second level of the National League System, and is the sixth tier overall of the English football league system. The National League South was introduced in 2004 as part of a major restructuring of the National League System. Each year the champion of the league is automatically promoted to the National League. Ashley Bayes
Ashley John Bayes (born 19 April 1972) is an English former professional footballer who is goalkeeping coach at League One club AFC Wimbledon. Bayes started his career at Brentford, where he progressed through the youth system to make his first-team debut in March 1990. He spent most of his time at Griffin Park as the club's second-choice goalkeeper, and in 1993, signed for Torquay United on a free transfer. Bayes played regularly during his time at Torquay, making over 100 appearances during his three seasons in Devon. He then joined Exeter City in July 1996, and spent three years there. Charles John Griffin (born 25 June 1979) is an English former professional footballer. Griffin started his career with Bristol Rovers, spending two years at the club and progressing through the club's youth system. He was released at the age of 18 and played part-time football with Chippenham Town for a season. Yemi Odubade
Yemi Odubade (born 4 July 1984) is a Nigerian footballer who plays as a striker for Southern League Premier Division club Gosport Borough. Odubade began his football career in England, playing in the Sussex County League for Eastbourne Town in 2002, where he scored over 70 times in two seasons at the East Sussex club in all competitions. This attracted transfer interest from Yeovil Town, signing for the club in July 2004. At Yeovil, Odubade found first-team opportunities limited and left the club in February 2005 in order to join Eastbourne Borough. The Colorado Rapids are an American professional soccer club based in the Denver metropolitan area. The Rapids compete in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member of the Western Conference.
