2011–12 NBB Season
2011–2012 NBB season was the fourth season of Novo Basquete Brasil, the Brazilian basketball league. This tournament is organized entirely by the participating clubs. The NBB serves as a qualifying competition for international tournaments such as Liga Sudamericana and Torneo InterLigas. For this season the qualify for the FIBA Americas League came to be through the Liga Sudamericana. The season started on November 19 and was disputed with 16 participating teams playing each other in round and second round in the regular season. At the end of two rounds the top four teams qualify for the quarterfinals of the playoffs automatically, while the teams finishing in the 5th and 12th place participated in the first round of the playoffs to determine the other four teams in the quarterfinals, best of five matches, advances to the next phase who win three games. Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB) (English: New Basketball Brazil) is the Brazilian premier professional men's basketball league. It is organized by the Liga Nacional de Basquete (LNB) (National Basketball League), in a new format of Brazil's previous top-tier level basketball competition, the Campeonato Brasileiro de Basquete (Brazilian Basketball Championship). The NBB is managed by the Brazilian basketball associations, which were founding members of the LNB. Format The NBB is the annual basketball league that is promoted by the national Brazilian league (LNB) organizing body, and is endorsed by the Brazilian Basketball Confederation (CFB). The first phase of the season consists of fifteen teams playing against each other, on a home and away basis. Then the top eight teams go to the playoffs, where the top ranked team plays against the one in the eighth place, the second from the top plays the seventh, and so on. Associação Limeirense de Basquete, also commonly known as Basquete Limeira, and known as Winner/Kabum Limeira for sponsorship reasons, is a Brazilian professional basketball team that is based in Limeira, São Paulo, Brazil. History Winner Limeira was founded in 2001, with the intention of rescuing club basketball in Limeira, and competing for both state and national titles. In its first year, Limeira won the second division of the State Championship and the Regional Games. Over the following eight years, Limeira won the Regional Games, and also won its first Brazilian championship, which was named the Nossa Liga de Basquete, in 2006. André Luiz Brügger de Mello Rodrigues, or Manteguinha (born 2 April 1981) is a Brazilian retired professional basketball player, who plays in the Novo Basquete Brasil league in Brazil. Centro de Treinamento Arremessando para o Futuro, or simply Espírito Santo Basquetebol, is a Brazilian basketball team from Vila Velha, Espírito Santo, Brazil.
