2011–12 Mercyhurst Lakers Women's Ice Hockey Season
The Mercyhurst Lakers women's hockey team will represent Mercyhurst College in the 2011–12 NCAA Division I women's ice hockey season. The Lakers were coached by Michael Sisti and won the regular season College Hockey America championship. During the season, the Lakers only carried 17 skaters, but the club won its 12th consecutive regular season title. In addition, the squad qualified for the NCAA tournament for the eighth consecutive season, an NCAA Division I women's hockey record. The Lakers finished 22–8–3 overall, and were defeated by top-seed Wisconsin, 3–1, in the NCAA quarterfinals. Jessie Vetter
Jessica Ann "Jessie" Vetter (born December 19, 1985) is an American ice hockey player and a member of the United States women's national ice hockey team. She was also a member of the 2008–09 Wisconsin Badgers women's ice hockey team, which won an NCAA title. She was drafted 20th overall by the Boston Blades in the 2011 CWHL Draft. Playing career Vetter played as a goaltender on the boys' ice hockey team at Monona Grove High School and won three state girls' soccer championships. While in high school, she was a four-time all-conference selection and a three-time all-state pick in soccer. Wisconsin Badgers In her four-year NCAA career, Vetter won an NCAA record 91 games (since broken by Hillary Pattenden) during her four-year career and posted an NCAA-record 39 career shutouts. Boston Blades
The Worcester Blades were a professional women's ice hockey team in the Canadian Women's Hockey League, based in Worcester, Massachusetts, and played their home games at the Fidelity Bank Worcester Ice Center. The team began play in the 2010–11 CWHL season as the Boston Blades where they won the Clarkson Cup twice, in 2013 and 2015. Bailey Bram
Bailey Bram Mitchell (born September 5, 1990) is a Canadian retired ice hockey player. As a member of Team Canada, she won a silver medal at the 2018 Winter Olympics and five IIHF Women's World Championship medals, one gold and four silver, from 2012 to 2017. Playing career Bram's father, Bill, coached her in junior. She led the St. Adolphe Hawks in scoring in 2005–06. In 2006, she participated in the Mac's Midget Tournament with the Blazers of Balmoral Hall School. In addition, she won a silver medal with the Assiniboine Park Rangers at the 2006 Western Shield. Alberta Honeybadgers
The Calgary Inferno (previously known as Team Alberta, nickname "Honeybadgers", during the 2011–12 season) was a women's ice hockey team that joined the Canadian Women's Hockey League (CWHL) for the 2011–12 season. The team played its home games at Joan Snyder Rink (Arena B) at WinSport Canada in Calgary, Alberta. After two seasons without an official name, in 2013 the team picked a moniker drawing from Calgary's National Hockey League franchise, the Calgary Flames, with whom they had a partnership. Hillary Pattenden
Hillary Pattenden (born December 27, 1990) is a Canadian former ice hockey goaltender who played with the Mercyhurst Lakers women's ice hockey program from 2008 to 2012. She held the NCAA Division I goaltender all-time most career wins title for 415 days, beginning on December 14, 2011, when she broke Jessie Vetter’s record of 91 wins until her own 100-win record was broken by Minnesota‘s Noora Räty on February 1, 2013 (Räty‘s 114 career win record was later broken by BC‘s Kaitie Burton on January 27, 2018). She was the first goaltender ever selected with the first overall pick in the CWHL, selected by the Calgary Inferno in the 2012 CWHL Draft, though she never played in the league and did not opt to pursue playing hockey in her post-collegiate career. Christine Bestland
Christine Bestland (born April 28, 1992) is a Canadian ice hockey player in the Mercyhurst Lakers women's ice hockey program. Prior to Mercyurst, Bestland was involved with Hockey Canada's Program of Excellence. Playing career In high school, she played at Winnipeg's Balmoral Hall prep school. This same school produced her Mercyhurst teammate Bailey Bram. In March 2010, Bestland was one of eight female players from Manitoba that attended David Roy's Pursuit of Excellence hockey academy in Kelowna, B.C. She was part of a female midget AAA team that won the Challenge Cup tournament in Washington, D.C. by defeating Little Caesar's from Detroit 6-4 in the championship game of the 26-team tournament. Lindenwood Lady Lions Ice Hockey
The Lindenwood Lady Lions ice hockey team represents Lindenwood University located in St. Charles, Missouri. The Lady Lions currently participate in the NCAA Division I competition as a member of College Hockey America (CHA). The team played with no conference affiliation as an Independent program for its first season of NCAA competition. During the 2011–12 season, Lindenwood was accepted into College Hockey America (CHA) beginning in the 2012–2013 season.
