2011–12 Hong Kong Senior Challenge Shield is the 110th season of one of the Asian oldest football knockout competitions, Hong Kong Senior Challenge Shield. Starting from this season, the format will change into a two-legged home-and-away ties competition. The winner Sunray Cave JC Sun Hei has guaranteed a place in the 2013 AFC Cup. Sun Hei SC
Sun Hei Sports Club () is a Hong Kong football club which currently competes in the Hong Kong Third Division. The club has a long history in playing in the top flight, but decided to self-relegate in the 2013–14 season after declining to participate in the newly established Hong Kong Premier League. History Sun Hei entered the Hong Kong First Division under the name Golden () in the 1994–95 season. In 1996, Golden under the name Golden XI played against England. England was in Hong Kong preparing for the UEFA Euro 1996 later in the summer. It was in Hong Kong that Paul Gascoigne's famous dentist chair incident took place. After securing the sponsorship of Xiangxue Pharmaceutical, the club competed in the league under the team name Xiangxue Sun Hei () from 2005–07. Penalty Shootout (association Football)
A penalty shoot-out (officially kicks from the penalty mark) is a tie-breaking method in association football to determine which team is awarded victory in a match that cannot end in a draw, when the score is tied after the normal time as well as extra time (if used) have expired. In a penalty shoot-out, each team takes turns shooting at goal from the penalty mark, with the goal defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. Each team has five shots which must be taken by different kickers; the team that makes more successful kicks is declared the victor. Shoot-outs finish as soon as one team has an insurmountable lead. If scores are level after five pairs of shots, the shootout progresses into additional " sudden-death" rounds. Balls successfully kicked into the goal during a shoot-out do not count as goals for the individual kickers or the team, and are tallied separately from the goals scored during normal play (including extra time, if any). Yuen Long Stadium
Yuen Long Stadium () is a multi-purpose stadium in Yuen Long, New Territories, Hong Kong. It is the current home ground of Hong Kong Premier League club Pegasus and the former home ground of Yuen Long. History Originally a piece of vacant land next to Shui Bin Village, the stadium was built by the Yuen Long District Sports Association with local support. It was constructed by Yuen Long Cheong Kee Construction for HK$198,000 in 1965. The stadium opened on 15 December 1969 with a First Division match between Yuen Long and Fire Services. On the same day, it hosted the start and the finish of the first marathon in Hong Kong held by Hong Kong Association of Athletics Affiliates, sponsored by Tin Tin Daily. Dani Cancela
Daniel "Dani" Cancela Rodríguez (; born 23 September 1981) is a former professional footballer who played as a left-back. Born in Spain, he spent most of his career with Kitchee in Hong Kong after signing in 2010, eventually going on to represent the Hong Kong national team. Club career Spain Born in A Coruña, Galicia, Cancela played several years for Deportivo de La Coruña, but only appeared officially for the reserves where he spent five seasons, four in the Tercera División. Jordi Tarrés (footballer)
Jordi Tarrés Páramo (alternately Jorge Tarrés Páramo, ; born 16 March 1981) is a former footballer who played as a forward, and is currently the assistant coach of Hong Kong Premier League club Lee Man. He spent most of his professional career with Kitchee in Hong Kong after signing in 2010, eventually going on to represent that national team in 2017. He amassed Segunda División B totals of 203 games and 44 goals over the course of eight seasons, during his spell in his native Spain. Huang Yang (, born 30 October 1983) is a Chinese-born Hong Kongese professional footballer who currently plays as a defensive midfielder for Hong Kong Premier League club Kitchee and captains the Hong Kong national team. Liu Quankun (, born 17 February 1983 in China) is a former Chinese-born Hong Kong professional footballer who played as a defender. Club career Liu spent his youth career in Dalian Shide and moved to Hong Kong in 2003 when he started to play for Kitchee. On 30 April 2008, in the 2008 AFC Cup group match against Singapore Armed Forces, Liu removed his shirt to fan his team-mate Lo Chi Hin, who had collapsed unconscious after suffering a suspected heart attack. Ubay Luzardo Santana (born 6 November 1983) is a Spanish footballer who plays for Arucas CF mainly as a central defender. Club career Early years and Kitchee Born in Las Palmas, Canary Islands, Luzardo came through local UD Las Palmas' youth system, but never represented the senior team. During his early spell in his country, he played only in Tercera División or lower. In July 2009, Luzardo signed a three-year contract with Hong Kong side Kitchee SC. Chan Man Fai (; born 19 June 1988 in Hong Kong) is a former Hong Kong professional footballer. Club career Kitchee In the 2011–12 Hong Kong Senior Challenge Shield first-round away match against Pegasus, Chan was sent off for handball, his second bookable offence. He missed the home match as a result. Pegasus Due to injury, Chan only played four matches for Pegasus, scored two goals and got two yellow cards. Chu Siu Kei
Chu Siu Kei (; born 11 January 1980, Hong Kong) is a former Hong Kong professional footballer who played as a midfielder. He is currently the assistant coach of Hong Kong Premier League club HK U23. Club career Chu was a member of the Sun Hei squad that won five trophies (League, Silver Shield, League Cup, FA Cup and Hong Kong Football Sevens) during the 2004-05 season. He scored a total of three goals for Sun Hei in the 2008-09 Hong Kong First Division League season as the club finished 5th in the league table. He did however assist the club to win the 2008-09 Hong Kong League Cup. He played as midfielder for Shatin SA but in the early season he was plagued by injuries. Hisanori Takada
was a Japanese professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Club career Takada started his goalkeeper career in Japan, then England, Ireland, Norway, Germany, Australia, Hong Kong, Indonesia.
