2011–12 Fogo Island League
The 2011–12 Fogo Island League season began on 19 November and finished on 22 April. Académica do Fogo won their 11th title and qualified into the 2012 Cape Verdean Football Championships. The championship was organized by the Fogo Regional Football Association (Associação Regional de Futebol do Fogo, ARFF). Vulcânicos was the defending team of the title. A total of 18 clubs participated in the competition, 10 in the Premier Division and 8 in the Second. Académica Do Fogo
Associação Académica do Fogo is a football club that currently plays in the Campeonato Nacional de Cabo Verde and in the Fogo Island League in Cape Verde. It is based in the island of Fogo and plays in the stadium with a capacity of 1000. The logo and the uniform as well as other teams with the name Académica and Académico in Cape Verde is identical to Académica de Coimbra, it features the volcanic mountain on the right. The club name and the year of foundation are at the bottom. Académica do Fogo are one of the unrelegated clubs on the island which includes Vulcânicos and Botafogo. Académica do Fogo is the second most successful club on the island, having won about 16 official regional titles. Nova Era FC
A nova (plural novae or novas) is a transient astronomical event that causes the sudden appearance of a bright, apparently "new" star (hence the name "nova", which is Latin for "new") that slowly fades over weeks or months. Causes of the dramatic appearance of a nova vary, depending on the circumstances of the two progenitor stars. All observed novae involve white dwarfs in close binary systems. Achada Furna is a settlement in the southern part of the island of Fogo, Cape Verde. It is situated 15 km east of the island capital São Filipe. At the 2010 census its population was 495. The 2010–11 Fogo Island League season began on 13 November and finished on 24 April. Vulcânicos won their 09th title and qualified into the 2011 Cape Verdean Football Championships. The championship was organized by the Fogo Regional Football Association (Associação Regional de Futebol do Fogo, ARFF). Botafogo for the last time was the defending team of the title. A total of 18 clubs participated in the competition, 10 in the Premier Division and 8 in the Second. Baxada and Juventude were winners of the Second Division while Desportivo de Cova Figueira and Nova Era were relegated into the Second Division for the following season. Cova Figueira has been playing in the Second Division since 2012 but Nova Era did not return until October 2017 into the Premier Division.
