The 2011–12 Baylor Lady Bears women's basketball team represented Baylor University in the 2011–12 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. Returning as head coach was Hall of Famer Kim Mulkey. The team plays its home games at the Ferrell Center in Waco, Texas and are members of the Big 12 Conference. The Lady Bears began the season as the preseason #1 team in both the Associated Press and the Coaches' Poll. They ran through the season undefeated, winning the Big 12 regular season and the Big 12 Tournament. They became the first team in college basketball history (men's or women's) to finish 40–0 by defeating Notre Dame for the national championship. Kim Mulkey
Kimberly Duane Mulkey (born May 17, 1962) is an American college basketball player and coach. She is the head coach for Louisiana State University's women's basketball team. A Pan-American gold medalist in 1983 and Olympic gold medalist in 1984, she became the first person in NCAA women's basketball history to win a national championship as a player, assistant coach, and head coach. She won three NCAA championships as the coach of Baylor in 2005, 2012, and 2019. Mulkey was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 2020 and was also inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Youth Kim Mulkey was one of the first girls in the US to play organized baseball with boys. After playing basketball at Nesom Junior High School in Tickfaw, Louisiana, she led her Hammond High School basketball team to four consecutive state championships. KCEN-TV (channel 6) is a television station licensed to Temple, Texas, United States, serving Central Texas as an affiliate of NBC. Owned by Tegna Inc., the station maintains studios on North 3rd Street in downtown Temple, with a news bureau and sales office in Killeen; its transmitter is located along I-35 south of Eddy. KAGS-LD (channel 23) in Bryan operates as a low-power semi-satellite of KCEN-TV, serving the Brazos Valley. As such, it simulcasts all network and syndicated programming as provided through KCEN-TV but airs separate local newscasts, commercial inserts and legal identifications, and has its own website.
