2011 MagicJack Season
The 2011 MagicJack season was the club's first year of existence under the moniker "MagicJack". Prior to the franchise purchase and relocation, the team had been playing in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area under the name "Washington Freedom". Including the Freedom's history and records, this is MagicJack's eighth season of existence. The club finished the regular season in third place, amassing a record of nine wins, two ties and seven losses. MagicJack (WPS)
magicJack (stylized with the first letter in lower case) was an American professional soccer club based in Boca Raton, Florida. The team competed in Women's Professional Soccer (WPS) for one season until legal challenges caused the team's owner, Dan Borislow, to be banned from the WPS, which folded in 2012. History Freedom era In 2001, magicJack was founded as Washington Freedom, a team of the defunct Women's United Soccer Association (WUSA). The Freedom were the only team to continue as an organization after WUSA folded, first playing exhibition games, then joining the W-League. The Freedom were a founding member of WUSA's successor, Women's Professional Soccer. Madeline Nicole Washington (born August 1, 1988) is an American retired professional soccer forward and right midfielder who last played for Boston Breakers in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) and is currently an assistant coach for the women's soccer team at the University of Washington. Christen Annemarie Press (born December 29, 1988) is an American soccer player for Angel City FC of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) and the United States national team. Rebecca Elizabeth Sauerbrunn (born June 6, 1985) is an American professional soccer player for Portland Thorns FC of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL), the highest division of women's professional soccer in the United States. Brett Elizabeth Maron (born June 2, 1986) is an American soccer goalkeeper. Collegiate career Maron played college soccer for Fairfield University where she earned honors as SoccerBuzz First Team All-Northeast Region and NSCAA Third Team All-Northeast Region in 2006 and twice as Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Defensive Player of the Year and MAAC Goalkeeper of the Year in 2005 and 2006. Lydia Kathleen Jackson (; born January 2, 1984) is an American soccer coach and retired player who played as a midfielder. Coaching career Vandenbergh worked as a coach for Matthews Soccer Club in Charlotte, North Carolina from 2006 to 2007. In 2008, she was an assistant coach at Charlotte Christian School, while also serving as a volunteer assistant coach for the Florida State Seminoles.
