German Television
Television in Germany began in Berlin on 22 March 1935, broadcasting for 90 minutes three times a week. It was home to the first public television station in the world, named ''Fernsehsender Paul Nipkow''. In 2000, the German television market had approximately 36.5 million television households, making it the largest television market in Europe. Nowadays, 95% of German households have at least one television receiver. All the main German TV channels are free-to-air. History In 1948 the British occupation forces allowed NWDR to broadcast television programmes for the British zone. Other regional networks also started to launch television in their own areas. Meanwhile, the GDR was launching its own television service, Deutscher Fernsehfunk (DFF), based on the Soviet Union, Soviet model. David Pfeffer
David Pfeffer (born 11 April 1982) is a German singer. He rose to fame during the second series of the German ''X Factor'' show, which he won in December 2011. David Pfeffer, who is also a police officer in Duisburg, Germany, released his debut album ''I Mind'' on 9 December 2011, which entered the German charts at No.20. The album, ''I Mind'' includes Pfeffer's single "I'm Here", which also was released on the same day as the album, 9 December 2011. Career 2011: ''X Factor'' Pfeffer auditioned for the second series of ''X Factor'' in 2011, singing The Fray's "You Found Me". He was mentored by Till Brönner and was announced the winner on 6 December 2011, winning a record deal with Sony Music. Pfeffer's winning song, " I'm Here," was made available for download on 6 December 2011, followed by his debut album '' I Mind'' which was released three days later. The Octonauts
''Octonauts'' is a children's television series, produced by Silvergate Media for the BBC channel CBeebies, and based on the children's books written by Vicki Wong and Michael C. Murphy. The show follows an underwater exploring crew made up of stylized anthropomorphic animals, a team of eight adventurers who live in an undersea base, the Octopod, from which they go on undersea adventures with the help of a fleet of aquatic vehicles. Although its technology is fictional, the exotic creatures and locations that the crew encounter are based on real marine animals in their natural habitats. The show's subject matter has been compared to that of ''Star Trek'' and '' Thunderbirds'' blended with Jacques Cousteau. The show was animated in Ireland by Brown Bag Films for its first four series. The show was renewed for a fifth series in 2018, with Canada's Mainframe Studios taking over animation work. Nickelodeon (Germany)
Nick is a German free-to-air television channel for children, part of the international Nickelodeon brand. Originally launched in 1995, and relaunched in 2005, Nickelodeon is based in Berlin. The channel is available on subscription services and as an unscrambled, free-to-air (FTA) satellite signal. On 31 March 2010, the channel re-adopted the name ''Nickelodeon'' on air and online, in addition to the new Nickelodeon logo and graphical package being rolled out internationally at the time. Since then, the channel is also broadcast in English in addition to German on a secondary audio track. Unlike other Nickelodeon feeds and like the Dutch and African counterparts, the end credits on shows never appear. ''The Amazing World of Gumball'' is an animated sitcom created by Ben Bocquelet for Cartoon Network. The series concerns the lives of 12-year-old Gumball Watterson, an anthropomorphic blue cat, and adoptive goldfish brother Darwin, who attend middle school in the fictional city of Elmore, California. ''The Voice of Germany'' is a German reality television, reality talent show created by John de Mol, based on the concept ''The Voice of Holland'' and its The Voice (franchise), international series.
