2011 World Indoor Lacrosse Championship
The 2011 World Indoor Lacrosse Championship was the third World Indoor Lacrosse Championship, an international box lacrosse tournament organized by the Federation of International Lacrosse every four years. It took place between 21 and 28 May 2011 in Prague, Czech Republic at the 4,900 seat Eden Arena, an Olympic-sized rink. The Canadian team was the defending champion and for the third time defeated the Iroquois Nationals in the finals, 13–6. The United States defeated the host Czech Republic 16–7 in the bronze medal game. Pool play Eight participating teams were placed in two pools. After playing a round-robin, the first place team in each pool advanced to the semi-finals, the second and third placed teams advanced to the quarter-finals, and the fourth place teams advanced to the 7th place games. Casey Powell
Casey Powell (born February 18, 1976) is a Hall of Fame American former college and professional lacrosse player from West Carthage, New York. In 1998, he graduated from Syracuse University, where he was a four-time USILA All-American. Powell was the NCAA Division I Most Outstanding Player in 1997 and 1998. Powell was inducted into the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 2017. Powell played in Major League Lacrosse, the semi-professional field lacrosse league, from its first year in 2001 through 2016, although he played in only 8 games between 2009 and 2013. Yet Powell ranks sixth in goals (243), second in assists (237), and third in points (484) on the MLL career totals list as of 2017. Powell also tops the all-time MLL playoff point chart with 40. Kyle Rubisch
Kyle Rubisch (born August 29, 1988) is a professional lacrosse player for the Saskatchewan Rush in the National Lacrosse League. College and Club career Rubisch is a graduate from Dowling College. During his tenure there, he was named to the 2010 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) All-Star Team and was a First Team All American. He has also received several accolades with his hometown team, the Brampton Excelsiors of Major Series Lacrosse. Professional career Rubisch was the 2nd overall draft pick, going to the Boston Blazers in the 2010 NLL Entry Draft. Sid Smith (born July 24, 1986 in Six Nations, Ontario) is an Iroquois lacrosse player who plays for the Rochester Knighthawks of the National Lacrosse League. Junior career Smith played for the Six Nations Arrows of the OLA Junior A Lacrosse League. Smith would lead the Arrows to four straight league championships. Smith won the John "Gus" McCauley Memorial Trophy as the league’s Defender of the Year in both 2006 and 2007. Cody Jamieson (born July 17, 1987) is a Mohawk lacrosse player from the Turtle Clan at Grand River. He plays for the Halifax Thunderbirds of the National Lacrosse League, the New York Lizards of Major League Lacrosse, and the Six Nations Chiefs in Major Series Lacrosse.
