2011 Women's Australian Hockey League
The 2011 Women's Australian Hockey League was the 19th edition of the women's field hockey tournament. The finals week of the tournament was held in the Northern Territory city of Darwin, Northern Territory, Darwin. The SA Suns, Southern Suns won the gold medal for the second time by defeating the New South Wales Arrows, NSW Arrows 1–0 in the final. Competition format The format included five-round matches over two weekends and a finals week that consisted of two-round matches and three pool matches for a place in the final. After all the round matches were complete the teams were ranked 1–8 depending on the total number of points earned in all their round matches. The teams ranked 1, 4, 5 & 8 went into pool A and the teams ranked 2, 3, 6 & 7 went into pool B. All previously earned points were removed with the teams in each pool playing each other once more. Queensland Scorchers
The OAMPS Queensland Scorchers are an Australian women's field hockey team based in Queensland that play in the Australian Hockey League. In the 2014 season, they were the runners-up to the NSW Arrows. They also won the 2013 Australian Hockey League Premiership, as well as the 2015 AHL Premiership. In 2016 they made it back-to-back premierships, beating Victoria in the final. When they again met Victoria in the 2017 final, the two teams were level at full time. The match then went to shoot outs, with Victoria coming away with the championship. The State Hockey Centre, currently known as MATE Stadium (formerly known as the Pines Stadium and Distinctive Homes Hockey Arena (2003–2009)), is a 4,000 capacity, government owned outdoor field hockey stadium located in Gepps Cross, a northern suburb of Adelaide, South Australia. It offers two international-standard wet hockey pitches which are used for both competition and training activities. Parkville Stadium, previously known as the State Netball Hockey Centre (also referred to as Melbourne Sports Centres – Parkville) is a multipurpose sporting facility located in Melbourne, Australia.
