2011 Wisconsin Badgers Football Team
The 2011 Wisconsin Badgers football team represented the University of Wisconsin–Madison in the 2011 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Badgers, led by sixth-year head coach Bret Bielema, are members of the Leaders Division of the Big Ten Conference and played their home games at Camp Randall Stadium. They finished the season 11–3, 7–2 in Big Ten play to be Leaders Division co–champions with Penn State. Due to their head-to-head win over Penn State, the Badgers represented the division in the inaugural Big Ten Championship Game where they defeated Legends Division champion Michigan State 42–39 to become Big Ten Champions. They were invited to the Rose Bowl for the second consecutive year where they were defeated by Oregon 38–45. Bret Bielema
Bret Arnold Bielema (; born January 13, 1970) is currently the head American football coach at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Bielema served as the head football coach at of the University of Wisconsin–Madison from 2006 to 2012, achieving a 68–24 record and taking them to three straight Rose Bowl Games, although they lost each time. He was the head football coach at University of Arkansas from 2013 to 2017, tallying a mark of 29–34. Bielema was an assistant coach in the National Football League (NFL) for three seasons, in 2018 and 2019 with the New England Patriots and 2020 with the New York Giants. Montee Ball
Montee Ball Jr. (born December 5, 1990) is a former American football running back. He was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft. He played college football at Wisconsin, where he was twice recognized as the best running back in the Big Ten Conference and a consensus first-team All-American. He was also a member of the New England Patriots. Until November 14, 2015, Ball held the NCAA Division I-FBS record for most career rushing touchdowns with 77 and the NCAA Division I FBS-record for most career total touchdowns with 83. Nick Toon
Nicholas Adam Toon (born November 4, 1988) is a former American football wide receiver. He played college football at Wisconsin and was drafted by the New Orleans Saints in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He is the son of former New York Jets wide receiver Al Toon. Early years Toon attended Middleton High School in Middleton, Wisconsin. He played as a wide receiver for the Middleton Cardinals football team, and was named a first-team All-state selection in 2006 after earning second-team honors as a junior in 2005. Brad Nortman
Brad Nortman (born September 12, 1989) is a former American football punter. He played college football at the University of Wisconsin. He was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the sixth round of the 2012 NFL Draft, making him the first punter that the team had drafted in its history. High school career Nortman was born and raised in Brookfield, Wisconsin. Nortman attended Brookfield Central High School in Brookfield, Wisconsin. The Dave Rimington Trophy is awarded to the player considered to be the best American football center in college football. Dave Rimington was a center who played at the University of Nebraska from 1979 to 1982. Peter Konz (born June 9, 1989) is a former American football guard. He was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He played college football at Wisconsin. The Lott IMPACT Trophy is presented annually to the college football defensive IMPACT player of the year. The Butkus Award, instituted in 1985 by the Downtown Athletic Club of Orlando, is given annually to the top linebackers at the high school, collegiate and professional levels of football. Chris Borland
Christopher Borland (born December 26, 1990) is a former American football linebacker who played for the San Francisco 49ers of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Wisconsin, and was drafted by the 49ers in the third round of the 2014 NFL Draft. He is one of the first NFL players to retire from professional football early in his career due to concerns of mid-term brain damage possibly inherent to the sport.
