2011 West Coast Eagles Season
The West Coast Eagles are an Australian rules football team based in Perth, Western Australia. Their 2011 season was their 25th season in the Australian Football League (AFL), their tenth season under premiership coach John Worsfold, and the fourth season with Darren Glass as captain. In the previous season, West Coast finished last on the ladder to receive their first wooden spoon. West Coast began their 2011 season with a four-point win over on 27 March. At the conclusion of round ten, West Coast had won five of their nine games and lost four, but over the remainder of the season won 12 of their 13 games to finish fourth at the end of the regular season. In the finals series, the club lost their qualifying final to by 20 points. West Coast Eagles
The West Coast Eagles are a professional Australian rules football club based in Perth, Western Australia. The club was founded in 1986 as one of two expansion teams in the Australian Football League (AFL), then known as the Victorian Football League. The club plays its home games at Perth Stadium and has its headquarters at Lathlain Park. The West Australian Football Commission wholly owns the West Coast Eagles and the Fremantle Football Club, the AFL's other Western Australian team. The West Coast Eagles are one of the most successful clubs in the AFL era (1990 onwards). Qualifying Final
The Australian Football League finals series, more generally known as the AFL finals, and known from 1897 until 1989 as the Victorian Football League finals series or VFL finals, is a playoff tournament held at the end of each AFL season to determine the premier. Matthew Spangher
Matthew "Matt" Spangher (born 23 April 1987) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for West Coast Eagles, Sydney Swans and Hawthorn Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Spangher is a key position player that can play as a forward or a defender. His career was hampered by injuries. Career Spangher was recruited by as the number 34 draft pick in the 2005 AFL Draft from Eastern Ranges. In 2006, he only played one WAFL reserves game for East Fremantle, before sustaining a groin injury which kept him out for the rest of the season. Ashley Hansen
Ashley Hansen (born 3 March 1983) is an Australian rules football coach and former player. He played for the West Coast Eagles in the Australian Football League (AFL), and has been an assistant coach in the AFL since 2013. Playing career West Coast Eagles Hansen was born in Victoria, Australia and was educated at Mazenod College. His father, Clarke Hansen, was a respected sports commentator. Scott Selwood
Scott Selwood (born 27 March 1990) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the West Coast Eagles and Geelong Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). As an Eagle, Selwood won a John Worsfold Medal in 2012, and was one of five acting captains at the club in the second half of the 2014 season after then-List of West Coast Eagles captains, captain Darren Glass retired midway through the season. Adam Selwood
Adam Murray Selwood (born 1 May 1984) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the West Coast Eagles in the Australian Football League (AFL). Originally from Bendigo, Victoria, Selwood played under-18 football for the Bendigo Pioneers in the TAC Cup before being recruited by West Coast in the third round of the 2002 National Draft. He made his debut for the club in 2003, and received a nomination for the AFL Rising Star two seasons later, in 2005. Mark LeCras
Mark LeCras (born 30 August 1986) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the West Coast Eagles in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was predominantly used as a small forward, though he has occasionally played in the midfield. He won an AFL Premiership with West Coast in 2018, his last season. His father played senior football for in the West Australian Football League (WAFL), and his brother, Brent LeCras, played for in the AFL. His cousins, Toby, Ashley and Cory McGrath, also played senior football in the WAFL and AFL. He made his debut for West Coast late in the 2005 season, and played his first full season in 2007. Shannon Hurn
Shannon William Hurn (born 4 September 1987) is an Australian rules footballer playing for the West Coast Eagles in the Australian Football League (AFL). From South Australia, he excelled at both cricket and football at junior level, and at one stage had a rookie contract with the South Australian Cricket Association (SACA). Prior to being drafted by West Coast, Hurn played for in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL), playing in premiership sides in 2004 and 2005. Andrew Embley (born 27 June 1981) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with the West Coast Eagles in the Australian Football League (AFL). He is known for winning the Norm Smith Medal as the best player in the 2006 AFL Grand Final. Embley was born in Perth and began his career with in the West Australian Football League (WAFL). He was recruited by West Coast with the 57th pick in the 1998 National Draft. Embley made his debut in the first match of the 1999 season, and was an AFL Rising Star nominee the following year. Beau Waters (born 30 March 1986) is a former professional Australian rules footballer and vice-captain of the West Coast Eagles in the Australian Football League (AFL).
