2011 Team Speedway Junior World Championship
The 2011 Team Speedway Junior World Championship was the seventh FIM Team Under-21 World Championship season. The final took place on 3 September, 2011 at Balakovo in Russia. It was the first final in Russia. The defending Champions were Denmark. Results As the 2011 Under-21 World Cup Final was staged in Russia, the Russian team was seeded directly into the Final. The other three finalists were to be determined in two Semi-Finals on May 28. However, Sweden, who qualified for the Final by winning Semi-final 1, and Australia who qualified by winning Semi-final 2, both withdrew from the Final due to travel cost and visa problems. After both Poland and Finland declined to replace them, their places in the Final was taken by Ukraine and Czech Republic. Anticipating cost and visa problems, Great Britain declined to enter a team in the 2011 Junior World Cup. Team Speedway Junior World Championship
The Team Speedway Under-21 World Championship is a speedway competition to determine the World Championship for national Under-21 teams. The sport's equivalent of the Under-21 World Cup in football, as of 2022 the title is awarded to the winners of SON2, the Under-21 division of the Speedway of Nations. The first edition of the competition was in 2005 prior to its incorporation with the Speedway of Nations. Poland has dominated the competition winning the title record 15 times. Previous winners Classification Rules Eligibility The minimum age limit (16 years) starts on the date of the rider's birthday and the maximum age limit (21 years) finishes at the end of the year in which they reach 21 years old. Kalle Katajisto
Kalle Katajisto (born 24 April 1991) is a Finnish former motorcycle speedway rider. Career Katajisto was a member of the Finnish national team. He rode in the British leagues when he signed for Edinburgh Monarchs in 2007. He stayed with the Scottish club for four seasons leaving after the 2014 season. However, he was to return to Britain in 2013 and 2014 riding for the Plymouth Devils. In 2009, he won the bronze medal at the Finnish Individual Speedway Championship. Timo Lahti (born 16 July 1992) is a speedway rider from Finland. Career Lahti started his British career riding for the Eastbourne Eagles in 2011. He became the national champion of Finland after winning the Finnish Individual Speedway Championship in 2012. After a total of four seasons at Eastbourne he left after the 2014 season. He won a further five national championships from 2015 to 2019 consecutively before being deposed by Tero Aarnio.
