2011 Supersport World Championship Season
The 2011 Supersport World Championship was the thirteenth Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme, FIM Supersport World Championship season—the fifteenth taking into account the two held under the name of Supersport World Series. The season began on 27 February at Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit, Phillip Island and ended on 16 October at Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, Portimão after twelve rounds. With reigning champion Kenan Sofuoğlu moving to Moto2, Eugene Laverty and Joan Lascorz moving up to the Superbike World Championship, Chaz Davies emerged as the season winner, despite his bad start in the first round. 2011 Superbike World Championship
The 2011 Superbike World Championship was the twenty-fourth season of the Superbike World Championship. It began on 27 February at Phillip Island and finished on 16 October in Portimão after 13 rounds. The knockout system introduced for Superpole in 2009 was revised as the number of riders admitted to the first two sessions was reduced from twenty to sixteen and from sixteen to twelve respectively. Ducati no longer competed with a factory team in 2011, after 23 seasons which had brought the marque a total of 29 riders' and manufacturers' championship titles, instead limiting its participation to privateer teams running their works bikes. Aprilia's gear-driven camshafts on its RSV4 motorcycle – which won the title in with Max Biaggi – was banned for the 2011 season. Autodromo Enzo E Dino Ferrari
The Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari, better known as Imola, is a motor racing circuit in the town of Imola, in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy, east of Bologna. It is one of the few major international circuits to run in an anti-clockwise direction. The circuit is named after Ferrari's late founder, Enzo Ferrari (1898–1988), and his son, Alfredo "Dino" Ferrari (1932–1956). Before Enzo's death, it was called Autodromo Dino Ferrari. The circuit has an FIA Grade One licence. Imola was the venue for the San Marino Grand Prix between 1981 and 2006. During this period, two Grands Prix were held in Italy every year, with the Italian Grand Prix taking place at Monza, so the Imola race was named after the nearby state. Misano World Circuit
The Misano World Circuit (officially known as Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli or Misano Circuit Sic 58, and before 2006 called Circuito Internazionale Santa Monica) is a race track located next to the town of Misano Adriatico (Province of Rimini) in the frazione of Santa Monica-Cella. Autodromo Nazionale Monza
The Monza Circuit ( it, Autodromo Nazionale di Monza, , National Automobile Racetrack of Monza) is a race track near the city of Monza, north of Milan, in Italy. Built in 1922, it was the world's third purpose-built motor racing circuit after Brooklands and Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Indianapolis and the oldest in mainland Europe. TT Circuit Assen
The TT Circuit Assen is a motorsport race track built in 1955 and located in Assen, Netherlands. Host of the Dutch TT, it is popularly referred to as "The Cathedral" of motorcycling by the fans of the sport. Sam Lowes
Samuel Deane Lowes (born 14 September 1990) is a British motorcycle racer competing in the Moto2 World Championship aboard a Kalex since 2019, and is part of the ELF Marc VDS Racing Team. Lowes' 2022 season ended early, being unable to race in October at Malaysia and the final round in November at Valencia, Spain, due to the after-effects of a significant shoulder injury at the British GP practice in August 2022. Sam is the identical twin brother of World Superbike rider Alex Lowes. Donington Park
Donington Park is a motorsport circuit located near Castle Donington in Leicestershire, England. The circuit business is now owned by Jonathan Palmer's MotorSport Vision organisation, and the surrounding Donington Park Estate, still owned by the Wheatcroft family, is currently under lease by MotorSport Vision until 2038. It has a capacity of 120,000, and is also the venue of the Download Festival. Originally part of the Donington Hall estate, it was created as a racing circuit during the period between the First and Second World Wars when the German Silver Arrows were battling for the European Championship. Luca Scassa
Luca Scassa (born 23 August 1983 in Arezzo) is an Italian motorcycle racer who is a Ducati Corse test rider. He previously competed in the MotoGP World Championship, the Superbike World Championship the Supersport World Championship, the AMA Superbike Championship and the British Superbike Championship. He was the Italian Superbike champion in 2008 riding a MV Agusta. In 2022 FIM Endurance World Championship he rides for Italian based No Limits Motor Team in superstock category.
