2011 Setanta Sports Cup
The 2011 Setanta Sports Cup was the sixth staging of the all Ireland association football competition. It commenced on 14 February 2011 with the final played on 14 May 2011. The draw for the 2011 competition was made at Belfast City Hall on 13 December 2010. Changes to structure For the 2011 competition, the Setanta Cup was expanded to 12 teams, of which the four highest ranked teams received a bye into the quarter-finals. Also unlike previous years the tournament was played as a straight knock-out competition over two legs apart from the final. Television Coverage Setanta Sports broadcast live coverage of five games, starting with the quarter-finals. First round Four League of Ireland and Four IFA Premiership teams played each other in the first round over two games with the winners qualifying for the quarter-finals. Setanta Sports Cup
The Setanta Sports Cup was a club football competition featuring teams from both football associations on the island of Ireland. Inaugurated in 2005, it was a cross-border competition between clubs in the League of Ireland from the Republic of Ireland and the NIFL Premiership from Northern Ireland. The cup was sponsored by Setanta Sports, the Irish subscription sports television network. The competition was discontinued after the 2014 edition. A successor competition, the Champions Cup, was announced in 2019. History The Setanta Cup was the first cross-border competition since 1980. Michael Gault
Michael Gault (born 15 April 1983) is a Northern Irish football former player who is currently manager of Linfield F.C. Swifts. He previously managed Ballymacash Rangers from 2019-20. Club career Born in Lisburn, Gault began his senior career with Linfield in the 2001–02 season. He signed a professional three-and-a-half year contract in April 2003, signing extensions in May 2006, May 2009, and March 2012. During the 2012 extension Gault, who was club captain, lost his full-time professional status. He was released by Linfield in May 2014, signing for Portadown later that month. He received a total of 21 yellow cards in 29 games in the 2015/16 season. Ross Gaynor
Ross Leon Gaynor (born 9 September 1987) from Ardee, County Louth is an Irish professional footballer who played in the Football League for Millwall. Club career Gaynor began his career playing juvenile football in Ardee with Square United and Ardee Celtic before moving on to Belvedere . Gaynor played for the Dundalk Schoolboys League side. Kevin Robert Braniff (born 4 March 1983) is a Northern Irish association football player who currently is playing for St James Swifts. He has been capped by Northern Ireland. Career Club career He started his career with Millwall. Although he scored on his debut against Brighton & Hove Albion, he never established himself in the Lions' starting XI. Killian Brennan (born 31 January 1984) is an Irish retired footballer who played as a midfielder in the League of Ireland Premier Division. Career Early career Noted for his wing play and ability to fire in accurate crosses, Brennan was signed by Peterborough United in his teenage years. In 2004, he was capped several times for the Republic of Ireland under-19s, before moving back to play in the League of Ireland. Solitude (football Ground)
Solitude is a Association football, football stadium in Belfast, Northern Ireland. It is the oldest football stadium in Ireland, and the home ground of Ireland's oldest football club, Cliftonville F.C., Cliftonville. The stadium holds 6,224, but is currently restricted to 2,530 under safety legislation. The stadium was built in 1890 and has undergone several renovations. In 2002, a new stand was built at one end of the ground to house visiting supporters, and in 2008, a new stand was completed behind the goal at the east end of the ground. Dalymount Park (Irish: ''Páirc Cnocán Uí Dhálaigh'') is a football stadium in Phibsborough on the Northside of Dublin, Ireland. It is the home of Bohemian F.C., who have played there since the early 20th century. Affectionately known as Dalyer by fans, it was also historically the "home of Irish football", holding many Irish internationals and FAI Cup finals. Windsor Park is a football stadium in Belfast, Northern Ireland. It is the home ground of Linfield F.C. who own the land the stadium is built on, while the Irish Football Association own and operate the stadium and pay Linfield an annual rental fee for the use of the land on behalf of the Northern Ireland national football team. Mark Quigley (born 27 October 1985) is an Irish former professional footballer who played for Millwall, Shamrock Rovers (over 2 spells), St Patrick's Athletic (over 2 spells), Bohemians (over 2 spells), Dundalk, Sligo Rovers and Derry City. Daniel Kearns (footballer)
Daniel Anthony Kearns (born 26 August 1991) is an Irish professional footballer who plays as a midfielder. Kearns joined Peterborough United from Dundalk in 2011 and had three separate loan spells with clubs across Northern England. He permanently joined Carlisle United after leaving Peterborough, and spent a year there before returning to Ireland, spending his later career at various clubs in the Irish Premiership and League of Ireland.
