2011 Scottish Professional Championship
The 2011 Scottish Professional Championship was a professional non-ranking snooker tournament that took place between 11 and 14 April at the Lucky Break Snooker Club in Clydebank, Scotland. The tournament was last held in 1989, where John Rea defeated Murdo MacLeod 9–7 in the final. Scottish Professional Championship
The Scottish Professional Championship was a professional non-ranking snooker tournament which was open only for Scottish players. The final champion was John Higgins. History The Scottish Professional Championship was held in Edinburgh in December 1949. There were four entries. Willie Newman, the holder, beat Bob Martin 6–5 in the first semi-final on 7 December. Harry Stokes (snooker player), Harry Stokes beat Eddie Brown 6–5 in the second semi-final on 8 December. In the 21-frame final, played on 9 and 10 December, Stokes led 8–2 after the first day and won 11–4 on the second afternoon. The Championship was held at the Nile Rooms in Glasgow in February 1951. James McBain (snooker Player)
James McBain (born 22 June 1978) is a Scottish former professional snooker player. After five years on snooker's secondary tour, James finally made it to the Main tour for the 2005–06 snooker season. McBain finished third in the Pontin's International Open Series Order of Merit, winning the last of eight events to clinch his promotion to the main tour again for the 2007–08 season, but was relegated in 2009. In 2010 he won the play-off match, which determined who will qualify for the 2010/2011 professional Main Tour. Billy Snaddon
Billy Snaddon (born 7 July 1969) is a Scottish former professional snooker player. He reached the World Snooker Championship first round five times, but never progressed past this stage. He spent 5 seasons ranked among the game's top 32, peaking at No. 24 in 2000. Career Snaddon began life as a footballer, but turned to snooker after a hip disease ended his football career, turning professional in 1991. He reached the last sixteen of seven ranking events before finally reaching a quarter-final, in the 1998 Irish Open. He reached one ranking final in his thirteen-year career, in the 1999 Regal China International. John Lardner (born 10 May 1972 in Glasgow, Scotland) is a former professional snooker player. His best performance came in the 1999 World Snooker Championship, where he reached the last 32. Scott MacKenzie (born 21 July 1980) is a Scottish former professional snooker player who lives in Renfrewshire. Career MacKenzie's first appearance at a ranking event came at the 2004 Daily Record Players Championship. He beat James Wattana in the final qualifying round before losing 5–1 to Marco Fu in the first round proper. He reached the last 16 of a ranking event for the first time in his career at the 2006 China Open. He won four qualifying matches to secure a place in the tournament, culminating in a 5–2 defeat of Ian McCulloch. In Beijing, he saw off wildcard Li Hang 5–2 then stunned Matthew Stevens 5–4 before losing 5–0 to eventual champion Mark Williams. David McLellan (born 10 January 1970) is a Scottish former professional snooker player. Career Born in 1970, McLellan turned professional alongside around three hundred other players in 1991. His first few seasons hailed no significant progress, although he enjoyed victories over Bob Chaperon in the 1991 Benson & Hedges Championship, and the veteran Rex Williams in qualifying for the 1994 World Championship. He has won six major ranking tournaments, including the 2004 UK Championship, and has twice since reached the finals of that event.
