2011 Richmond Football Club Season
The 2011 season marked the 104th season in which the Richmond Football Club participated in the AFL/VFL. This season was Damien Hardwick's second season as senior coach. It was also the first season Richmond played against the Gold Coast, and was also the first time the club played a home-and-away game at Cazaly's Stadium in Cairns. Season summary The start of the 2011 season was hopeful for the Tigers. In round 1, the Tigers were in front at three quarter time, to lose by 20 points to Carlton in the traditional blockbuster. Media commentators and AFL fans alike noted Richmond's improvement. In round 2, the Tigers shocked the AFL world when they drew with grand finalists from the previous year, St Kilda, even with their goal kicking star Jack Riewoldt going down with a concussion in the first quarter. Troy Simmonds
Troy Simmonds (born 13 July 1978) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Melbourne, Fremantle and Richmond in the Australian Football League. AFL career Melbourne: 1999 – 2001 Simmonds was first drafted by Melbourne in the 1999 pre-season draft. He played only five 5 games in 1999 but then played 22 in 2000, including the Grand Final, during which he was carried from the field on a stretcher following a head-on charge by Essendon's Michael Long. Fremantle: 2002 – 2004 In 2002 he was traded to Fremantle as part of a three way trade that included Daniel Bandy moving to the Western Bulldogs and Craig Ellis moving to Melbourne. Reece Conca (born 12 August 1992) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Fremantle Football Club and the Richmond Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Andrew Collins (footballer Born 1988)
Andrew Collins (born 17 November 1988) is an Australian rules football player. Collins was born in Bridgewater. He played junior football for Sandhurst in the Bendigo Football League, and played TAC Cup football for the Bendigo Pioneers. He was recruited to the AFL by the Richmond Football Club with its fifth round selection in the 2006 AFL Draft (#73 overall). Collins made his senior debut for the Tigers in Round 4 of the 2009 AFL season against Melbourne. Collins performed well, named amongst Richmond's best, including two goals and 20 disposals. Shaun Grigg
Shaun Grigg (born 19 April 1988) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played 171 games for and 43 games for over a 13 year AFL career. He was a premiership player with Richmond in 2017, an Under 18 All Australian and twice placed in the top five in Richmond club best and fairests. Early life and junior football Grigg grew up in the Victorian country town of Linton, 33 kilometres south-west of Ballarat. He attended high school at St Patrick's College. Richard Tambling (born 12 September 1986) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Richmond Football Club and the Adelaide Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Relton Roberts (born 1 March 1986) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for Richmond Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Adam Thomson (Australian Footballer)
Adam Thomson (born 21 August 1986) is an Australian rules footballer who played for Port Adelaide and Richmond in the Australian Football League (AFL). Career A promising young midfielder, Thomson was taken by Port Adelaide with the 11th selection in the 2004 AFL National Draft. He played just two senior games in 2005, spending most of his time in his first two years at Port Adelaide playing for South Australian National Football League (SANFL) club, Sturt. Jordan McMahon
Jordan McMahon (born 27 May 1983) is an Australian rules football player. McMahon, a native South Australian, was drafted from South Australian National Football League (SANFL) club Glenelg in the 2000 AFL draft as a first round selection (10th overall) by the Western Bulldogs. Playing as a running defender, McMahon had seven seasons at the Western Bulldogs, debuting in 2001 for four games. Dean Polo (born 5 August 1986) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Richmond Football Club and the St Kilda Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Tom Hislop
Tom Hislop (born 7 June 1988) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Essendon Football Club and Richmond Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was drafted by the Essendon Football Club in 2006 at pick 20 in the 2006 AFL draft. He made his debut in Round 14 against and kicked a goal. However, he suffered a stress fracture prior to round 17 and missed the rest of the 2007 season.
