2011 Poinsettia Bowl
The 2011 San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl, the seventh edition of the game, was a post-season American college football bowl game, held on December 21, 2011 at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego, California as part of the 2011–12 NCAA Bowl season. The game was played at 5:00 p.m. PT on ESPN, and featured the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs from the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) versus the TCU Horned Frogs from the Mountain West Conference. Louisiana Tech accepted a bid to compete in the 2011 edition of the game on November 26, while TCU accepted a bid to compete on December 4. San Diego Stadium was a multi-purpose stadium on the West Coast of the United States, west coast of the United States, in San Diego, California. The stadium opened in 1967 as San Diego Stadium and was known as Jack Murphy Stadium from 1981 to 1997. Myles Howard White (born March 30, 1990) is an American football wide receivers coach for the Miami University RedHawks of the MAC (NCAA FBS). He played college football at Louisiana Tech. Casey Pachall
Casey Pachall (born November 14, 1990) is a former American football quarterback. He played college football for the Horned Frogs of Texas Christian University. Early years Pachall attended Brownwood High School in Brownwood, Texas. He took over the role as Brownwood's quarterback when Shelby Miller suffered a staph infection. When Miller returned, he did so as a wide receiver. As a senior, he passed for 2,808 yards with 31 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. College career After being redshirted as a freshman in 2009, Pachall spent 2010 as Andy Dalton's backup. Muffed Punt
In gridiron football, a muffed punt is defined as "touching of the ball prior to possessing the ball.” A muffed punt occurs when there is an "uncontrolled touch" of the football by a player on the returning team after it is punted. This can occur when: * The kicking team interferes with the other team's right to catch the punt * A player on the kicking team is struck unaware by the football running down-field to cover the punt. * A player attempts to return the ball, makes contact with it but cannot retain the ball in his hands and it comes loose. To be a fumble, the receiving team must ''possess'' the football, then lose control. In the case of a fumble, the ball is live and can be returned by the team that recovers the ball. The 2011 Western Athletic Conference football season is a college football season for the Western Athletic Conference. The 2011 season consisted of eight members: Fresno State, Hawaii, Idaho, Louisiana Tech, Nevada, New Mexico State, San Jose State, and Utah State. This season the WAC's membership changed for the first time since 2005. Boise State, who joined the conference in 2001, left to join the Mountain West Conference. This season was the last year of membership for three other schools: Fresno State, Hawaii, and Nevada. All became members of the Mountain West in 2012 (Hawaii as a football only member, other sports will join the Big West Conference). 2011 Mountain West Conference Football Season
The 2011 Mountain West Conference football season was the 13th season of college football for the Mountain West Conference (MW). Eight teams participated in that season: Air Force, Colorado State, New Mexico, San Diego State, TCU, UNLV, Wyoming and new member Boise State. This was the first year the MW was without founding members Utah and BYU, which respectively left for the Pac-12 Conference and FBS independent status, with BYU's other sports joining the West Coast Conference.
