2011 Nationwide Tour
The 2011 Nationwide Tour was the 22nd Nationwide Tour season. It ran from February 24 to October 30. The season consisted of 26 official money golf tournaments; three of which were played outside of the United States. Mathew Goggin
Mathew Charles Goggin (born 13 June 1974) is an Australian professional golfer. Amateur career As an amateur, he won the 1995 Australian Amateur, played at Huntingdale Golf Club in Melbourne, Victoria, 2 & 1 over American Jamie Crow. He also won the 1995 Tasmanian Amateur, played at Seabrook Golf Club in Wynyard, Tasmania, over fellow Tasmanian Peter Toogood. Professional career Goggin is currently a member of the Nationwide Tour. He was previously a member of the PGA Tour from 2000 to 2003, and regained his card in 2006. He was a member of the Nationwide Tour in 1999, 2004 and 2005. His best PGA Tour year-end money list finish was in 2008 when he finished in 40th. Before playing in the States, he played in Europe. Fresh Express Classic
The Ellie Mae Classic was a golf tournament on the Korn Ferry Tour. It was first played in 2009 at TPC Stonebrae (previously known as Stonebrae Country Club), in Hayward, California. The inaugural event had a prize fund of $600,000 with $108,000 going to the winner, Australian Michael Sim who shot a final round 64 to triumph by 6 strokes. The 2010 event had the same purse and American Kevin Chappell won his first Nationwide Tour event. Daniel Chopra of Sweden won the 2011 event, shortened to 54 holes after fog delayed and then canceled the fourth round. The event was not played in 2013 due to construction of a new clubhouse, but returned in 2014. In 2016, Stephan Jäger set the 18-hole scoring record (58) and 72-hole scoring record (250) on the Web.com Tour at this tournament. Erik Compton
Erik Harald Høie Compton (born November 11, 1979) is a Norwegian-American professional golfer. Compton was born in Miami, Florida, to an American father and a Norwegian mother and holds dual citizenship. He attended the University of Georgia and played on the 2001 Palmer Cup and Walker Cup teams. He has had two heart transplants. Medical condition When he was nine, Compton was diagnosed with viral cardiomyopathy, a condition where the heart muscle is inflamed and unable to pump as hard as it should. This condition has resulted in him undergoing two successful heart transplants, the first being in 1992 when Compton was 12, and the second taking place in 2008. During the Masters Tournament at Augusta, Georgia in April 2009, Compton received the Ben Hogan Award, which is given annually to a golfer who has stayed active in golf despite a physical handicap or serious illness. Mexico Open (golf)
The Mexican Open ( es, Abierto Mexicano de Golf), also known as the Mexico Open and Abierto Mexicano de Golf, is the national open golf tournament of Mexico. History First played in 1944 at the Club de Golf Chapultepec, it was an event on the Tour de las Américas between 2003 and 2006, being co-sanctioned by the European Challenge Tour from 2004 to 2006. It became a Nationwide Tour event in 2008, and was rescheduled from December to January, which resulted in no tournament in 2007. Due to the outbreak of swine flu in 2009, the Mexican Open was rescheduled from May to September. In 2013, the tournament was moved to March and became an official event for PGA Tour Latinoamérica. Kyle Thompson
Kyle Thompson (born April 25, 1979) is a former American professional golfer. Professional career Thompson is a former member of the PGA Tour. He played on the PGA Tour in 2018, 2012 and 2008, failing to keep his card each time. Thompson was a member of the Nationwide Tour from 2003 to 2007. He won two events in 2007 which put him in the top 25 on the money list which earned him a PGA Tour card for 2008. He returned to the Nationwide Tour in 2009 after making nine cuts in 26 events. Thompson again returned to the PGA Tour in 2012, but only made 3 cuts in 22 events. He earned his fourth Web.com Tour win at the 2015 Rex Hospital Open, the third time he won that event. Steve Wheatcroft
Steven John Wheatcroft (born February 21, 1978) is an American professional golfer. Wheatcroft was born in Indiana, Pennsylvania, grew up in Washington, Pennsylvania, and attended Indiana University earning a degree in Sports Marketing and Management. He turned professional in 2001 and has played in several tours over the years. His first victory came at the Pennsylvania Open Championship in 2003. He is currently a member of the PGA Tour. In his 2006 Nationwide Tour debut season, Wheatcroft recorded only one top-10 and missed the cut 12 times. Despite his difficulties, he would perform well at the PGA Tour Q-School. He finished 7th to earn his card for 2007. He would make only 10 cuts out of 25 attempts and post one top 25. Consequently, he lost his card. Garth David Mulroy (born 8 July 1978) is a South African professional golfer. Amateur career Mulroy was born in Durban. He attended college in the United States at North Carolina State University, where he was an NCAA Division I All-American. He turned professional in 2002. The BMW Charity Pro-Am is a golf tournament on the Korn Ferry Tour. It is currently played at Thornblade Club (host course) in Greer, South Carolina and The Carolina Country Club in Spartanburg, South Carolina. From 1992 to 2000, the event was played at Verdae Greens Golf Club in Greenville. Russell Henley (born April 12, 1989) is an American professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour. Amateur career Born in Macon, Georgia, Henley attended Stratford Academy in Macon. He played college golf for four years at the University of Georgia in Athens. He won the 2010 Haskins Award as the most outstanding collegiate golfer and played in the U.S. Open and tied for the low amateur (with Scott Langley).
