2011 Martyr's Memorial A-Division League
The 2011 Martyr's Memorial A-Division League (known as the Martyrs' Memorial Red Bull 'A' Division League Football Tournament 2011 for sponsorship reasons) was the 39th season of the A-Division League since its establishment in 1954/55. A total of 18 teams competed in the league. The season began on 28 April 2011 and concluded on 16 July 2011. Defending champions Nepal Police Club won the league. A record of 18 teams participated in the league, playing a total of 153 matches. The timing also had to be reduced to final constraints and the timing of world cup qualifiers. The major was due the inception of National League as the top-tier league of country. Therefore, the league returned to single leg round robin formation. Martyr's Memorial A-Division League
Martyr's Memorial A-Division League ( Nepali: शहीद स्मारक ए- डिभिजन लिग; formerly known as the Kathmandu League Championship) is the top divisions of football in Nepal. Contested by 12 to 16 clubs, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation within the Martyr's Memorial B-Division League. The season usually runs from November to March with every team playing each other once and the top six teams reach the Super Six round, where the teams again play each other once. It is officially known as the Qatar Airways Martyr's Memorial A-Division League. A new Nepal National League was created in 2011 to give chance to compete A level tournaments to the clubs outside Kathmandu valley. Friends Club is a Nepali professional football club from the Kopundole neighborhood of Lalitpur. The club is known for nurturing young talent of Nepalese Football. Friends Club has produced more than 200 national football players to date. New Road Team ( ne, न्यु रोड टिम; better known by its abbreviation NRT) is a Nepalese multi-sports club, widely known for its football achievements. The club is based in Tripureshwor, Kathmandu. They compete in the Martyr's Memorial A-Division League. History NRT was established in 1991 BS (1934 AD). Besides sports, the club was also active in mobilizing youth against the autocratic Rana regime. NRT is the oldest existing club in the Nepal. For the season of 2013–2014 club decided not to participate in league and other domestic competitions. Nepal Army Club, also known as Tribhuwan Army Club, is the departmental Army sporting club of Nepal and is based in Kathmandu.
