2011 IIHF World Championship Division III
The 2011 IIHF World Championship Division III was an international ice hockey tournament run by the International Ice Hockey Federation. The tournament was contested between 11–17 April 2011 in Cape Town, South Africa. Prior to the start of the tournament, the Mongolian national team announced they would withdraw, citing financial reasons. All games against them were counted as a forfeit, with a score of 5–0 for the opposing team. The UAE decided to withdraw from the 2011 Division III tournament in Cape Town, South Africa because they refused to compete against Israel, who was also in the tournament. Israel won all five of its games by a combined score of 57-9, and was promoted to the 2012 IIHF World Championship Division II. Israel's Eliezer Sherbatov led the tournament in points, goals, assists, and +/-, earning 26 points (14 goals + 12 assists) in four games. He was named the best forward of the tournament. Eliezer Sherbatov
Eliezer "Elie" Alexeevich Sherbatov ( he, אליעזר שרבטוב; born 9 October 1991) is an Israeli-Canadian ice hockey player who plays for the Jonquière Marquis of the Ligue Nord-Américaine de Hockey, after having played for HC Mariupol of the Ukrainian Hockey League until the Russian invasion in February of 2022. In the 2020-2021 season he played for TH Unia Oświęcim of the Polska Hokej Liga. He is the first Israeli to have played in the Russian Kontinental Hockey League, for HC Slovan Bratislava. His biography, published in both French and English (My Left Skate: The Extraordinary Story of Eliezer Sherbatov, and Sherbatov: Le garçon qui voulait jouer au hockey) was written by Anna Rosner and released on October 12, 2022. 2010 IIHF World Championship Division III
The 2010 IIHF World Championship Division III was an international Ice Hockey tournament run by the International Ice Hockey Federation. The tournament was contested from April 13–18, 2010. For the first time, the IIHF allowed eight teams, rather than six, to compete in Division III, which was handled by separating the teams into two groups. Group A was played in Kockelscheuer, Luxembourg, while Group B's games took place in Yerevan, Armenia. The process reverted to the single group of six teams the following year. The IIHF announced on February 5, 2010 that the Division III Group A championship would be moved from Athens, Greece to Kockelscheuer, Luxembourg after the Hellenic Ice Sports Federation announced they would not able to host the tournament after problems with government funding. Robert Schneider (born October 12, 1965) is an Austin, Texas–based musician and former lead singer of the rock band Ugly Americans. He has released around a dozen albums, mostly on his own Shockorama label. The Gilles are the oldest and principal participants in the Carnival of Binche in Belgium. They go out on Shrove Tuesday from 4 am until late hours and dance to traditional songs.
