2011 Gastein Ladies
The 2011 Gastein Ladies was a professional women's tennis tournament played on outdoor clay courts. It was the fifth edition of the tournament which was part of the 2011 WTA Tour. Clay Court
A clay court is one of the types of tennis court on which the sport of tennis, originally known as "lawn tennis", is played. Clay courts are made of crushed stone, brick, shale, or other unbound mineral aggregate depending on the tournament. The French Open uses clay courts, the only Grand Slam tournament to do so. Clay courts are more common in Continental Europe and Latin America than in North America, Asia-Pacific or Britain. Two main types exist: red clay, the more common variety, and green clay, also known as "rubico", which is a harder surface. Although less expensive to construct than other types of tennis courts, the maintenance costs of clay are high as the surface must be rolled to preserve flatness. Anastasija Sevastova
Anastasija Sevastova (born 13 April 1990) is an inactive professional tennis player from Latvia. She reached her career-high singles ranking of world No. 11 in October 2018, after reaching her first Premier Mandatory final at the China Open. She has won four singles titles on the WTA Tour, as well as 13 singles and four doubles titles on the ITF Circuit. Sevastova is best known for her success at the US Open, particularly in recent years. In 2016, she defeated the reigning French Open champion and world No. 3, Garbiñe Muguruza, as well as Australian Open semifinalist Johanna Konta, en route to her first Grand Slam quarterfinal. Gastein Ladies
The WTA Austrian Open is a WTA Tour affiliated women's tennis tournament held off and on from 1968. In the Open Era, seven locations hosted the event: Pörtschach in 1968 and 1999; Kitzbühel from 1969 to 1983 and from 1990 to 1993; Vienna in 1979 and from 2001 to 2004; Bregenz from 1985 to 1986; Maria Lankowitz from 1994 to 1998, Klagenfurt in 2000 and Bad Gastein from 2007 to 2015 where it took place as Nürnberger Gastein Ladies. The tournament which is held on outdoor clay courts was not contested in 1984, 1987 to 1989 and from 2005 to 2006. Four Austrians won the singles event: Judith Wiesner in 1995, Barbara Paulus in 1996, Barbara Schett in 1997 and 1999 and Yvonne Meusberger in 2013. Sofia Shapatava ( ka, სოფია შაფათავა, tr, ; born 12 January 1989) is a Georgian tennis player. She has won two singles and 32 doubles titles on the ITF Women's Circuit. On 8 September 2014, she reached her career-high singles ranking of world No. 186. On 9 November 2015, she peaked at No. 132 in the doubles rankings. Playing for Georgia Fed Cup team, Shapatava has a win–loss record of 29–25. Paula Ormaechea (; born 28 September 1992) is an Argentine tennis player based in Italy. She has won 16 singles and nine doubles titles on the ITF Circuit. Nastja Kolar (born 15 July 1994) is a Slovenian tennis player. She was a talented junior, her highest ranking was fourth. Her highest WTA rankings are 178 in singles and 140 in doubles. Dia Evtimova ( bg, Диа Евтимова; born 30 April 1987) is a Bulgarian tennis player. On 31 October 2011, she reached a career-high WTA singles ranking of 145 whilst her best doubles ranking was 228 on 23 June 2014. She has more than 550 match wins on the pro circuit which puts her 42nd on the List of Open era and tenth among the active players. Patricia Mayr-Achleitner (née Mayr; born 8 November 1986 in Rum) is a retired Austrian tennis player. Mayr-Achleitner won 17 singles and seven doubles titles on the ITF Circuit in her career. Nikola Hofmanova (born 3 February 1991, as Nikola Hofmanová) is an Austrian former professional tennis player. Hofmanova was born in Chomutov, Czechoslovakia. Monica Niculescu (born 25 September 1987) is a Romanian professional tennis player. She has been ranked by the Women's Tennis Association as high as 28 in singles and 11 in doubles.
