2011 Four Continents Figure Skating Championships
The 2011 Four Continents Figure Skating Championships was an international figure skating competition in the 2010–11 season. It was held at the Taipei Arena in Taipei, Taiwan on February 15–20. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. Qualification The competition was open to skaters from a non-European member nation of the International Skating Union who reached the age of 15 by July 1, 2010. Each country may send up to three entries per discipline. The corresponding competition for European skaters was the 2011 European Figure Skating Championships. 2010–11 Figure Skating Season
The 2010–11 figure skating season began on July 1, 2010, and ended on June 30, 2011. During this season, elite skaters competed on the ISU Championship level at the 2011 European, Four Continents, World Junior, and World Championships. They also competed in elite competitions such as the Grand Prix series and Junior Grand Prix series, culminating in the Grand Prix Final. Season notes This was the first season in which the short dance was contested in ice dance, having replaced the compulsory dance and original dance. The season's required pattern dance was the Golden Waltz (senior) or Viennese Waltz (junior), and the other portion of the dance could be a waltz, foxtrot, quickstep, or tango. Beginning in the 2010–11 season, a rule change allowed men to do two quads in the short program, if they were different jumps. International Skating Union
The International Skating Union (ISU) is the international governing body for competitive ice skating disciplines, including figure skating, synchronized skating, speed skating, and short track speed skating. It was founded in Scheveningen, Netherlands, in July 1892, making it one of the oldest international sport federations. Amélie Lacoste
Amélie Lacoste (born December 17, 1988) is a Canadian former competitive figure skater. She is the 2010 Skate Canada International bronze medallist and the 2012 Canadian national champion. Her highest placement at an ISU Championship was 7th at the 2010 and 2012 Four Continents Championships. Career Lacoste won the novice national title in 2003 and the junior national title in 2005. She also competed on the Junior Grand Prix series. She finished 5th in her senior national debut at the 2006 Canadian Championships. She briefly tried pair skating in 2007. Joey Russell
Joey Russell (born June 24, 1988 in Labrador City) is a Canadian former competitive figure skater. He competed at four ISU Championships; his best result was 11th, achieved at the 2007 World Junior Championships in Oberstdorf and at the 2010 Four Continents Championships in Jeonju. On the national level, he won the Canadian junior title in 2006 and a senior bronze medal in 2011. Russell trained at the Mariposa School of Skating. On May 31, 2011, he announced his retirement from competitive figure skating. Kevin Reynolds (figure Skater)
Kevin Reynolds (born July 23, 1990) is a retired Canadian figure skater. He is the 2013 Four Continents champion, 2010 Four Continents bronze medallist, 2014 Winter Olympics team silver medallist and a six-time Canadian national medallist (2012–14, 2017 silver; 2010, 2016 bronze). His highest place at a World Championship is fifth, achieved at 2013 World Championships. On the junior level, he is the 2006 JGP Final bronze medallist. With partner Danielle O'Brien, he is a six-time Australian senior national champion and three-time junior national champion. They have competed at the World Championships and Four Continents Championships since 2008, and have competed at three World Junior Championships. With partner Gregory Merriman, she is a six-time Australian senior national champion and three-time junior national champion. Evgueni Borounov (born 10 June 1979) is a Russian-Australian former competitive ice dancer. Competing for Australia with his wife, Maria Borounov, he became the 2006–2007 Australian national champion and competed at six Four Continents Championships. Personal life Evgueni Borounov was born 10 June 1979 in Moscow, Russian SFSR, Soviet Union. He graduated with a nursing degree in Russia. Maria Borounov (born 14 May 1982) is an Australian former competitive ice dancer. Competing with her husband, Evgueni Borounov, she became the 2006–2007 Australian national champion and competed at six Four Continents Championships. Personal life Maria Borounov was born on 14 May 1982 in Perth, Western Australia. She studied justice and business law at university. She met Evgueni Borounov in 2000 and married him in 2002. Career Maria Borounov began learning to skate in 1993. At age 16, she sustained a knee injury, resulting in dislocation of the patella and extensive tissue damage. Jaimee Nobbs (born 10 March 1995) is an Australian former competitive figure skater. She is a three-time (2011, 2013, 2014) Australian ladies' bronze medallist. Early life Jaimee Nobbs was born in South Perth, Western Australia. She is the daughter of Australian field hockey players Michael Nobbs and Lee Capes. Her father played in the 1984 Summer Olympics and her mother won a gold medal in field hockey at the 1988 Summer Olympics. Cheltzie Lee (born 21 April 1993) is an Australian former competitive figure skater. She is the 2010 national champion and represented Australia at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. She also competed at seven ISU Championships, achieving her best result, tenth, at the 2011 Four Continents. Personal life Cheltzie Lee was born 21 April 1993 in Campbelltown, New South Wales.
