2011 Formula Renault 3.5 Series Season
The 2011 Formula Renault 3.5 Series was the seventh season of the Renault–supported single–seater category. It was the final season for the current Dallara chassis with Renault Sport Technologies having confirmed a new car for the 2012 season. After featuring 12 teams during the 2010 season, following the late withdrawal of SG Formula, the grid expanded to 13 teams in 2011 with the addition of leading Formula Abarth and Italian Formula Three outfit BVM–Target. Robert Wickens
Robert Tyler Wickens (born March 13, 1989) is a Canadian racing driver from Guelph, Ontario, driving in the Michelin Pilot Challenge for Bryan Herta Autosport. In 2009 he finished in second place in the FIA Formula Two Championship, and in 2010 he was runner-up in the GP3 Series. In his return to Formula Renault 3.5, where he competed in 2008, he won the 2011 season championship with Carlin Motorsport, with backing of Marussia. Wickens then left the series to race in the DTM for the HWA Team. Wickens left DTM after the 2017 season and signed to drive for Schmidt Peterson Motorsports in the 2018 IndyCar Series, going on to claim pole position in his debut race at the 2018 St. Petersburg Grand Prix. His promising debut IndyCar season came to a premature end when a violent crash during the 500-mile race at Pocono left him a paraplegic. EPIC Racing
EPIC Racing (Euskadi Phil Imanol Claudio Racing) was a racing team from Spain. The team's headquarters were located in Vitoria ( Alava). It was the second major motorsport team from the Basque Country, (Euskadi). Epsilon Euskadi was the biggest one and ran their own team in World Series by Renault and Formula Renault before selling the racing division to EPIC Racing in March 2011 in a bid to run the World Series by Renault with both FR3.5 and FR2.0 when Epsilon Euskadi ran into financial trouble and allowed all personnel involved to maintain their jobs. Epic Racing was born from a sell out of Epsilon Euskadi and not a name change as it mistakenly written in several places. Daniël de Jong (born 9 July 1992) is a professional racing driver from the Netherlands. Career Formula Renault 2.0 After a lengthy karting career in his native Holland and a brief stint in the Dutch Winter Endurance Series, de Jong made his single–seater debut in 2008 in the Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup (NEC), finishing the season 13th overall. He also contested two races in the Formula Renault 2.0 NEZ series, taking two pole positions and a race victory to finish the season in 8th place, and a single round of the Formula Renault 2.0 West European Cup at Spa–Francorchamps. Daniel McKenzie (born 24 October 1988 in Reading, Berkshire) is a British professional racing driver from England. Career Early career Like most young drivers, McKenzie began his career in karting, racing in the Junior Rotax class before making his car racing debut in the Radical SR4 Biduro Championship in 2005, where he finished in fourth place. Formula BMW In 2006, McKenzie made his debut in single–seaters, taking part in the Formula BMW UK series with the Promatecme – RPM team. In his maiden season he scored three points to finish in 19th place. Comtec Racing is a motor racing team based in the United Kingdom. It competes in three championships — Formula Renault, World Series by Renault and the Auto GP World Series. Nathanaël Berthon (born 1 July 1989 in Romagnat) is a professional racing driver from France. Career Karting Berthon began his international karting career in 2006, with the highlights being a third-place finish in the Copa Campeones Trophy ICA class and fifth in the French Championship Elite category.
