2011 Champs Sports Bowl
The 2011 Champs Sports Bowl, the 22nd edition of the game, was a post-season American college football bowl game, held on December 29, 2011, at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Florida as part of the 2011–12 NCAA bowl season. The game, which was telecast at 5:30 p.m. ET on ESPN and ESPN 3D, featured a team from the Atlantic Coast Conference versus a team from the Big East Conference. Invitations were accepted by Florida State and Notre Dame to play in the contest on December 4. It was FSU's second Champs Bowl, and Notre Dame's first. Notre Dame was invited through an option in the Big East tie-in. The game sold out on December 7, marking the Champs Sports Bowl's first ever sellout. The Pop-Tarts Bowl is an annual college football bowl game that is played in Orlando, Florida, at Camping World Stadium. The bowl is operated by Florida Citrus Sports, a non-profit group which also organizes the Citrus Bowl and the Florida Classic. It was first played in 1990 in Miami Gardens, Florida, before moving to Orlando in 2001. Since it was commissioned as the ''Sunshine Classic'', it has undergone several name changes. The game has tie-ins with the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and Big 12 Conference. The Citrus Bowl is an annual college football bowl game played at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida. The bowl is operated by Florida Citrus Sports, a non-profit group that also organizes the Cheez-It Bowl and Florida Classic. The game was first played as the Tangerine Bowl in 1947 before being renamed as the Florida Citrus Bowl in 1983. When Capital One was the game's title sponsor between 2001 and 2014, the game was referred to simply as the Capital One Bowl from 2003 to 2014. Dustin Hopkins (born October 1, 1990) is an American football placekicker for the Los Angeles Chargers of the National Football League (NFL). Tommy Rees (quarterback)
Thomas Kevin Rees (born May 22, 1992) is an American football coach and former player, who is the current offensive coordinator of the Alabama Crimson Tide. He played college football at Notre Dame from 2010 to 2013. Early years Rees was born to Bill and Susan (née Cantwell) Rees in Los Angeles, California and grew up in Lake Bluff, Illinois. His father played college football at Ohio Wesleyan and served as an assistant coach at Northwestern and UCLA. Tommy played football at Lake Forest High School. As a senior in 2009, he completed 215 of 308 passes for 2,572 yards and 23 touchdowns while only throwing 3 interceptions the entire season. Ezekiel Ranieri Motta (born May 14, 1990) is a former American football safety who played for two seasons with the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted by the Falcons in the seventh round of the 2013 NFL Draft. He played college football at Notre Dame. Michael Floyd Jr. (born November 27, 1989) is a former American football wide receiver. He played college football at Notre Dame from 2008 to 2011, finishing with 271 catches for 3,686 yards and 37 touchdowns, all school records. The 62nd Orange Bowl was a post-season college football bowl game between the Florida State Seminoles and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on January 1, 1996, at The Orange Bowl in Miami, Florida. Florida State defeated Notre Dame, 31-26. The game was part of the 1995-1996 Bowl Alliance of the 1995 NCAA Division I-A football season and represented the concluding game of the season for both teams.
